I prefer artist name - album name - track number - song name. It's a bit redundant because I sort them in directories \artist name\album name, however I do find it useful.

Then you missed my point entirely. My point was that it doesn't matter whether CO2 does lead to global warming, the fact that it reducing emissions is benificial in other reasons is more than enough reason to reduce it.

Okay, name something that puts C02 in the air that doesn't also pollute in other ways? Burning fossil fuels is where most of the C02 comes from. Burning fossil fuels is also where most of the pollution comes from. Therefore cut down on the emission of C02, you will also cut down on the emission of pollution.

Less polution in the air will make people more healthy: less alergies, less asthma, less lung cancer, fewer cases of resperitory illness. That is undisputable.

Your talking about spending billions of dollars refitting essentially the entire power delivery industry (electric, gasoline, natural gas, propane etc.)

Did I say lets tear down everything and spend billions rebuilding. No I didn't. Driving smaller more fuel efficient cars and hybrid vehicles doesn't cost billions, those cars aren't signifigantly more expensive than what we like to drive now. And our power grid is in essential need of billions of dollars. Instead of building more dirty plants and putting bandaids on it, why not invest in better technologies, by building nuclear power plants?

  6. Re:certainty on Ward Hunt Ice Shelf Breaks In Two · · Score: 1

Why does it harm our society to emit less CO2? we drive more efficient cars, using hydrogen and electric power, use nuclear power to generate our electricity, plant trees? That's going to make the society better and more healthy... what's the harm in that?

Because the changes you're proposing are not easy to make, and will impact society greatly, all for some tenuous belief that it might help.

I think the 100's of millions of years the world supported life without us emitting tons of CO2 is proof that us cutting our emissions won't do more harm. Hell, we have 1000's of years of human history without us emitting tons of CO2 to use as evidence.

So you're saying if I want to eat a balanced diet I should eat just as many twinkies as I do pieces of broccoli? There is more than one definition of balance. You seem to be stuck on this one:

balance n. A state of equilibrium or parity characterized by cancellation of all forces by equal opposing forces.

    Try using these defintions instead:

balance n. A harmonious or satisfying arrangement or proportion of parts or elements, as in a design.

balance n. A stable mental or psychological state; emotional stability.

Besides, Lucas himself on the directors commentaries of both AOTC and TPM has said balance means no Sith, and balance is achieved when vader kills the emperor and then dies.

There is something else you forgot to consider. The best selling albums of all time clock in at around 20 million copies sold. If you figure $8 for a movie ticket that would be the equivalent of a $160 million dollar movie, which seems to be a pretty average blockbuster. A gold record sells 500,000 copies a platinum record sells 1,000,000. If only that many people went to your movie, you'd be looking at box office takes of 4 and 8 million dollars. which would be considered a flop.

  21. Re:DVDs on Music Industry Compared to Movie Industry · · Score: 1

considering that an expensive album costs 4 million dollars to make, and the wholesale price of a cd is about $10. That album has to sell 400,000 copies before it breaks even. Most albums don't get close to selling that many copies. What the music industry needs to do is start producing more albums that don't cost alot. Most bands could record an album easy for $50,000. In fact most bands could equip a studio for $50,000 and would then lower the costs of each subsequent album. At $50,000 a band would only need to sell 5,000 records before a profit was seen. That seems to be a much more realistic goal.
