  1. Re:No Linux from MSFT? on Microsoft Warms Up to Linux · · Score: 2, Insightful

The problem with these kind' a "hacks" is that they're "hacks".

It's an inelegant solution. The script introduces too many dependencies (shell version, paths, etc...) and the whole idea of a gui front end to scripts, is bad design, in my opinion.

An elegant design would be to have X or something, expose an API for video hardware configuration, that way the gui calls the api programmatically, and everything's much more robust.

Linux is too disorganized and has too many developers with different opinions that it's VERY hard to implement standards for anything.

Your arguments are indeed true, so you would probably agree to that getting "better" engineers into NASA, as the grand-parent propsed, won't solve the problem.
Assigning these engineers to managerial positions might, though.

A polymorphic virus just changes itself a little bit with each infection.
obviously, it does alter the executable's "CRC".
(I'm double quoting the word CRC since you've failed to mention the hashing algorithm used to generate this number. Currently, changing a file's contents without changing it's md5sum or a sha1sum, for instance is highly unprobable. that is, assuming that sha1 or md5 is used... you get the point)

People seem to think that everything that google ever does is a god-sent gift!

I think it's about time (Especially after the IPO), that people would realize that google, is first and foremost a company that's "in-it" for the money.
with the word, money, being a key-word,
especially when it comes to its shareholders.

Soon enough, pressure from that direction would reach into company policy, and google would cease "doing no evil" ...

I suggest, that we should all objectively judge each and every new product or service that google offers.

Personally, I think a whole lot of very talented people are working together on the mozilla project, and they've been doing so for years.
Why would anyone with a right-mind think
