I;ve got a Motorola A1000 and it does a very good job of being both, the size is good and as long as you get some third party software on it (read: Tracker) you're set. The only issue I have is its battery life, it won't last 2 days, If I forget to charge it at night It'll die before the end of work the next day. It runs Symbian UIQ (the same OS as the Ericsson P9xx seriers, which is also a very capabal PDA/Cell) take a look at both the Motorola A1010 (out Xmas) and the New Sony Ericsson P9.. something.
the internet is way better and safer than alcohol and drugs any day.
And gambling is also way better than alchol or drugs any day, does this mean these things shouldn't be treated? Judging the seriousness of problems on a relative basis isn't going to help anyone.
I don't know how much effect it will have but Microsoft are shouting a lot about high DPI displays with Vista, I have no idea how high they are or what resolution they'd run at, but I can imagine it requiring that much more RAM.
The obvious performance differential between the database options and both UW and Courier indicates that email storage is indeed a problem well suited for a database solution.
But you are right about file deletions MySQL does take longer, but almost all other tests it appears to out-perform the file systems, especially if the tests are repeated over (because of caching the results to said tests)
I agree, and would a nano blob be able to turn handles and poke at things and do all the other things that our hands can do besides holding things. Although I don't know why we're discussing this since it is pure science fiction right now. In that light my proposed nano blob hand can make you fly and teleport you places:D
I have partial hearing loss and wouldn't even think of using a hearing aid
I'm sorry that you feel that way, I have a number of friends who require and use hearing aids and no one, I mean NO ONE makes a fuss, people don't point and stare even children don't, perhaps you are more paranoid than you think, give them a try and you'll realise that people don't see it as a "disability" any more than glasses after all. If you are really afraid you can get concealed aids that are very hard to notice unless you look someone directly in ear and pay attention. Like you say people who need glasses where them, equally people who need hearing aids wear them but you'll always get people who deny that they need glasses/aids etc etc. You admit that you require a hearing aid, get out there and stop caring what people think (or don't as the case may be) and you'll be back to a world of full stereo enjoyment:D
What about rat-killer and other suck "small" sweet-esq poisonous products. If you're really concerned you can lobby to make the things taste horrid so children will spit them out.
I dont think that's an issue, what happens if your drink petrol or car oil or battery acid... don't expect it to be safe to eat (if is is, that's a bonus, but not really going to save anyones life...)
This is why developers use DirectX and OpenGL, so they don't have to optimize specifically for each type of hardware platform. This may not work 100% all the time, but you can get very good performance without having to write hardware specific stuff. Since there is really only two graphics cards manufacturers now anyway (NV and ATI) and one Sound card (Creative) there really isn't that much scope for specific optimisations anyway.
Partially off-topic but myself and everyone I know who has seen Ep3 believe it to be an amazing film, where did all these Ep3 haters come from? Sure there's some bad acting (*cough* hayden *cough*) and cheesy padmae moments that have no chemistry, but the film is very enjoyable to watch, has excellent action and its pretty damn fast paced all things considering. It's very dark and the story is actually very good, it's a shame that so many of you didn't enjoy it:(
In the UK the ID Card system will be biometric based, I'm not saying that it isn't forgable but it is a hell of a lot better than a signature! If Osama wanted multiple ID cards he's going to have to have different hand/finger/face and iris prints for each one, since the nation ID database will of course stop people with the same biometrics getting additional ID cards and most likley flag that person to the correct authorities. Yes, making fake finger prints isn't hard but there are now scanners that use finger-vein scanning which requires the veins in fingers to match as well as the pattern (much harder to fake). You don't think these things have been tought of?
Unfortunatly proportional representation also has its problems, the biggest being which party ends up being your local MP? Also it will lead to no party having enough power to pass anything through parliment. As bad (I agree it is) as the current system is, it does leave the country in a functional state.
I'm guessing AV vendors hook the CreatFile API and CreateProcessEx ect to intercept and scan, in which case they could release the hooks and update then reapply the hooks, but this would leave your system exposed while the update was in progress. Also they might be doing something strange in their API hooks that mean removing them mid-swing could do some weird shit.
Don't be so stupid, the terms work both ways, the US can diable the EU system and the EU can disable the US system. In the unlikely? event that they goto war with each other, they can tell one another to go fuck themselves and do what the hell they want. Do you really think either side would be so retarded?
As a matter of fact it does have a lot of games optimisations, in one of the key note speaches the Microsoft guy demonstrated running 12 DirectX demo applications and Quake3 at full speed at the same time, where he also showed WinXP died after 4 of the same demo where running and no Quake3. Whever this means anything to games performance is questionable, but it does indicate that Longhorn will play friendly with DirectX far more than XP.
try mlDonkey, it does a number of networks including BitTorrent and I've never had any problems with it. Also since it handles your torrents and donkey files together you have central queue and priority system for both networks.
"Explanation: Expanding light echoes continue to illuminate the dusty environs of V838 Monocerotis, mysterious variable star near the edge of our Galaxy. This stunning image, produced from Hubble data recorded in October of 2004, adds to a unique series of space-based, high-resolution views. After detecting a sudden outburst from the star in 2002, astronomers have followed the flash expanding at the speed of light through pre-existing dust clouds surrounding the reddened variable star. While the expanding light echoes are dramatic, astronomers have struggled to understand where V838 Mon itself fits into the stellar life cycle. Studies indicate the V838 Mon is a young binary system with a massive star responsible for the outburst. The Hubble image spans about 14 light-years at the estimated 20,000 light-year distance to V838 Mon."

You've been watching too much Swordfish

They call it GuildWars
Actually I have a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz and my other box has a Matrox. Both aren't exactly impressive anymore compare to the said competition.

I think of ROTK (Return of the King) I wonder what the psychiatrists would make of us three then eh?

Anyone know if this is really how AV do it?
You can mount drives in any folder you like in XP/2K, not just drive letters. I.e. you can mount the DVD-Drive to C:\DVD if you wish.

I hope you feel big now.
The image is 12 Light-years wide, so displaying it on your monitor, it is going to look pretty sharp!
