Bingo. Organized religion likes to pretend they are the font of moral wisdom, but history simply doesn't bear that truth out. That stance is merely a pretense to control their flock, to get them to do what they want them to do.
We've clicked on the star in an effort to show interest in the issue. So far this issue has more interest than any other issue listed, by almost an order of magnitude.
You know, it's annoying that it's not available but my main issue is the lack of communication from Google on this issue. What timeline do we have for this being implemented? "Soon", for the past 6 months we've heard that. What does "soon" mean? Tomorrow? That's soon. Or is it "Google Beta" level soon, where it could be YEARS before they get around to fixing it.
As an administrator of a number of paid for Apps domains, I find their behavior on this issue to lack any kind of competence or professionalism. I am regretting my decision to recommend google web base email and am actively exploring alternatives because of their behavior.
If you'll note, that's not the heart of the complaint. It's google's behavior over the issue. There has been no commitment to the completion of the project. In fact, the only commitment that anyone from google has made has been "soon".
The lack of professionalism to committing to any kind of time frame for their paying customers is, frankly, unacceptable. I had been recommending small businesses take a look at google apps, but have since begun recommending o365. It's more expensive, but at least they seem to care about the customer.
...and thus, a second rate citizen in google's eyes. To be clear, once I started PAYING for a google service, I lost functionality with a fuzzy promise date of "soon" ( for the past 6 months ).
I don't think I'll be jumping on board this particular bandwagon, thanks.
I made a point of putting "does streaming right" in there. It's an important distinction. For reference, netflix does an "OK" job, but it's hit or miss whether what I want to watch is available via streaming.
"Done right" means whatever content I want, when I want it at a flat monthly fee that's reasonable in whatever formats are currently available. If a service like that existed, I might pay as much as 20 bucks for it ( although to be fair, it'd only be used a couple nights of the month when I don't have other things going on ).
While I have OSS leanings, I'm more interested in getting the job done rather than making any ideological stands. 365 is interesting, I'll have to take a look at it.
Not exactly. It's the fact that they seem completely unable to act professionally by giving status updates and accurate timelines. It doesn't speak highly of their continued interest in my business. I'd rather have my email hosted by a company that seems genuinely concerned with keeping the customer happy. Obviously that's not google. Which makes sense, when you think about it. Despite the fact I'm paying them, I'm the product not the customer. Their customers are the folks forking over the bills for advertising. I'm sure they are taking care of those customers, just not me.
As far as signing up a fake account, only to ditch it if/when they get profiles working with Apps...no. I'm almost positive there will be no "merging" of accounts, so I'd have to start with a fresh profile once they get around to fixing things. Not my idea of a good time. I'll stick with facebook until then.
Are getting screwed. I like the option of getting a DVD for a show that wasn't available via streaming. But when the price changes came, I decided I used streaming more than the real video service, so I opted for the streaming only at 8 bucks a month. Now they are losing stars, which means I am not essentially paying the same for a greatly reduced service.
I have seen the value acquired for the dollar spent on netflix rapidly diminish over the past several months. I'll probably end up canceling entirely and go back to waiting for a service to come along that does streaming right.
( note: I'm not entirely blaming netflix here, they're the middle man and have to play games with the content holders, who we all know are bastards. Doesn't change the end result however. )
...if they ever got around to fixing google apps so it worked with google+. Instead, all we ( us google apps users ) get are false promises...when we get anything at all.
Can anyone recommend a decent competitor to Google Apps?
There's been a big push for more energy efficiency in the corporate/business sector. This stuff tends to trickle down to the consumer level after a bit, so that's what we're seeing here.
Use of devices is probably increasing, but said devices use a fraction of the power they did even a decade ago, so it makes sense that overall consumption per household would fall.
Think about it; how many of you have washers that are 5 years or older? 10? My washer and drier are over 20 years old. I plan on replacing them soon, which will significantly reduce my power draw.
How about we focus on getting Google+ working with Apps first, before we worry about games.
You know, Apps. Us paying folks. Who have been told fake deadlines a number of times, and now can't even get a commitment on the timeline ( no, "soon" does not constitute a "timeline". Not when the other deadlines turned out to be lies ).
And their streaming content providers won't pull the same shens as Stars is with Netflix?
Hollywood and the content companies learn through pain. They have to shoot themselves in the foot at least a dozen times before they begin to realize that their current activity may be hindering their profits, not improving. Streaming content in particular seems to be taboo. They do it, because market forces have essentially forced them to, but they don't understand it and will fight it every step of the way.
You go up to the front of the class and say, "Abandon hope, all ye who enter this profession". If they want you to expound on it a bit, you add "Are you fucking crazy? Go play some foot ball, score with some cheer leaders, drink booze, smoke pot, do anything BUT become a software developer. Your peers are almost universally morons, and those are the ones in THIS country. It's entirely likely that by the time you graduate, you'll have to move to India or China to find work. Oh, and your managers will constantly challenge your faith in humanity."
Because at about the one year mark, people start getting itchy to get a new phone. A battery draining faster than it used to will often be the nudge they need to drop the money on a new phone, especially when the batteries in question are a significant fraction of the cost of a new phone.
IE: cell companies acting like the slime they are.
...is that the bar owners are probably saving a mint by not having to pay to rebroadcast the sporting event. I've heard quotes as high as 5/g a month for moderately sized restaurants/pubs to rebroadcast football/baseball games ( with sound! ).
It's not may 21st anymore, it's October 21st. That's a little too close for coincidence I think./afk: going to go sell all my possessions, tell my kids they are going to hell, go on a massive road trip with stinky men in weird tshirts. Maybe I'll wear my tinfoil hat while I'm at it, who knows.

Actually, they've been saying stuff since March 30 of 2011:

The good news is someone opened an "Issue" for the google+ platform. You can follow it here: http://code.google.com/p/google-plus-platform/issues/detail?id=22

Your arrogance is based on ignorance. Might want to look to fixing that.

Apps and Profiles/Google+?
Ya, probably not.
However, it's just one more service Google Apps customers ( you know, us paying folks ) can't use.
Tell me about it.
Signed,
Google Apps user.

Let's just let them focus on delivering profiles to google apps customers first. All they seem to be able to say on this topic is "soon".
If so, why? The few times I've gone in there ( "well, it's been a while, they have to have gotten better" ), I have left disappointed.

That's attractive, actually. Or at least, would be, if google would let those of us with google apps accounts have profiles and access google+.
