  1. Re:Speeding in perpindicular directions? on Stoplights to Mete Out Punishment? · · Score: 1

In IL there are stop lights on some highways. With the max sitting at 55mph. But if everyone is going 85, you must either go 85 or change lanes. There is actually a law mandating this.

  2. Re:More social engineering on Stoplights to Mete Out Punishment? · · Score: 1

There are something like 23 states where by going 65 you would be breaking the law. Illinois is one of them. The reason is that you are holding up traffic and being unsafe.

Uh. Are cops paid commission on speeding collars? Didn't think so.

They are paid indirectly through all the tickets that are payed. And in Northbrook, IL(dont know about anywhere else) the cops have quotas of how many tickets they have to give. Thats why its always less safe at the end of the month.

I dont have ABS(91 Corolla), never had, and hopefully never will. I have never been in an accident. Ive found that locking wheels at high speeds(80+) is perfectly fine. The difference is that some people lock their wheels when they are about to run into someone is nerves. They arent thinking and just reacting. Locking my wheels has just recently probably saved my life and my car. I was driving around 70 and someone went straight into my side(drivers). There were trees and the curb on my right, so I couldnt go anywhere. I locked my wheels and turned my car with the front facing at an angle into the curb, leaving space for his car at the front left of mine. My car slid at that angle for a while until the idiot sverved back into his lane. Then I regained control of my car. Being able to remain cool in that situation saved me. BTW I had 2 other people in the car at the time, there was heavy traffic all around us(this is Chicago so it was mostly tailgating).

Thats a hard call. What if someone comes into the parking lot and you dont see them. Same reason why they would give you a ticket for going backwards on a highway when there is no one else there. Now if the parking lot is closed off, and there is no way the cop can get into it, then you might be right.

No matter how cheap you make it, there will still be some people that for some reason or another cant get the coverage. I dont know which way is best, but both systems have their downfalls. The reason our system is so good in the first place is because of our large investment in technology. The health care itself is better than most countries but the system by which it works is horrible.

A while back I heard a story of someone bleeding to death next to a hospital. And I mean literally in the alley right next to it. People in the hospital knew about it. This person just lay there and died, people kept running back and forth between this person and the hospital. Asking them for help. But this person didnt have insurance, and the Doctors were unwilling to even come near that alley. After a while someone stole a gurney from the hospital and brought that person over. But by that time it was already too late. This is a major problem. When legal precedents come before the helping of fellow human beings.

Or another scenario, when someone without insurance comes into a hospital for an emergency and is asked to pay 100 grand for a few minutes of work. The hospitals overcharge for everything in times of emergencies. They even ask for the full prices of the towels used to clean you up(~20.00).

This is exactly what I hate. Its not that simple. When you tax more, you take money out of the economy. Less money in the economy lends to a slowing down of the economy. Republicans usually like to speed up the economy through smaller taxes. Democrats like to speed it up by setting up more gov't jobs and changing bond percentages and bank lending factors(dont remember what those are called).
