Not being christian does not mean that somebody is an atheist. Death wishes, though, should not be tolerated here, especially not against someone who is far more respectable then you'll ever be, with that attitude.
Fair, but Mars has an historical mysticism to it that appeals to people. And heck the mars landers only cost the equivalent of 2 days of spying in the US...
Jupiter and its moons are a great target for exploration, but don't have hundreds of years of people pondering life on them. Its only been less then half a millenium that we've actually known jupiter even -has- moons.
People kill people! Same for games. I play shoot-em-up games a lot. I enjoy them. I don't have any particularly violent tendencies. The article is long winded and i am winded from reading it:) but i'll make my point simple and clear:
The availability of firearms (and ammunition) in the US is the main reason for the high shooting rates in the country. All the games do is increase people's accuracy and decrease their surprise at the effects of the weapons that they are using.
All in my own humble opinion and exhausted stupor.
jeesum, he calls a lot of attention no matter what he says... look at this... Moderation Totals:Offtopic=5, Interesting=2, Informative=2, Overrated=1, Total=10. that's just one of many recent comments that's been moderated down. People stop wasting so many moderation points, just because of -who- you have personal gripes against!
Rob, (if you're reading this), can you make it so when you're a moderator signatures and authours are not visible? I think it would help all involved.
Seems to me you could be a lot more productive writing interesting comments than lambasting who I think is slashdot's most consistently interesting poster.
No there is a reason I use cat file | less rather then less file; here goes...
when you use less/var/spool/mail/`whoami`, then it shows up in in user userlisting 'w' what you are doing. If you use cat | less, you go to end of the file then go back it shows up as - ?, which affords more privacy.
I have yet to find any problems with reading mail in pine or mail (mailx to some people). My favourite way is actually 'cat/var/spool/mail/`whoami` | less' - unless you have c^Hch^H^ha^H^ar^Hr you can't even make something bold there, let alone leave cookies:)
Anyhow, the point is that reading mail with special effects is proving to be more costly then its worth to those of us who value our privacy, and the general security of our email.
Though - ANSI bombs are possible in mailx:)

Well...looking at the karma system I have an idea.
All users with positive karma should always be allowed to moderate. But every time they moderate, they lose one point of karma. They gain it back, or lose more, depending on how well they faired at metamoderation.
The only catch is that Signal 11's 270 or so karma points will be enough to moderate this entire discussion.:)
If this was a hoax, I'd be more confident that the FBI or the DA's office would have called a press conference and denied the charges, or at the very minimum, made public comment. I (clearly) have No Confidence in the United States governments or its various Gestapolen to govern the United States honestly and fairly.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
I think this states fairly clearly that the FBI stepped waaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of bounds. But will they be held accountable? Or will the only Western country not to sign the Geneva Convention ignore human rights, once again?
IIRC, Eudora was affected by some java problems or viruses, recently. Weren't Outlook, Eudora, and Netscape Mail the three programmes that have had problems with bad email?

As far as I can tell most frequenters to warez channels are younger people, often in their early to mid teens. They are going to have a fun time cracking down on the thousands of 12-18 year olds exchanging software on IRC, as most of these people would not feel bad about putting a DoS against the BSA site in a while loop or being otherwise annoying to the enforcers. They also have by invitation channels and will kick enforcers out. The BSA will have a fun time. An analogy is that lone 60 year old teacher you all remember from elementary school who would come break up the schoolyard fight, and then have the fight turn on them.

They IPOed wednesday last, aren't you glad they told us? :)
CBC had a story that mentionned it.

Oh give me a break you humourless moron. My post was thoroughly sarcastic and fully toungue-in-cheek. Go back to sleep.
Yipes!! :)
Does that make FreeBSD Free as in beer, Free as in speech, and free as in D? hrm. What's D?
People don't take me so seriously, it was meant to be toungue-in-cheek!
EDS will not be fixed by this rice...
Remember, it 'contracts' muscles. I do not see this helping -anyone- score....
conpiracy {
big brother could replace our rice with these and control our stomach muscles!! Ahh!! Uncle Sam is teaming up with Uncle Ben's!!
