  1. Re:Dead End, no sir... on Graphene Sheets Get Easier To Manufacture · · Score: 3, Informative

Currently, there are three methods for creating circuits using graphine. Smashing, spraying and now vapor grown. If the graphine is perfect and I mean, every carbon atom utilizing its four bonds to connect to another carbon atom, we get pretty close to super conductor. These sheets per the nature article are at ~280Ohms resistance. Once we have the ability to reliably "print" sheets with circuits, we come to the point of refining our circuits for each application and we can then get away from "central processing" for further imporovements. We have a long way to go with this technology but the future looks bright.

Not all IT jobs require you to sit behind a desk. There are many IT jobs out there that require that you travel a great deal. Such is the case with most Communication Systems jobs, Military IT work and anykind of sales if you can swing it. I personally have been looking at the Polytechnico di Milano as I speak Italian and have a strong desire to move there permanantly. From my research so far, most classes are in English. Talking to a few friends, this school is considered the MIT of Europe. The only thing you have to foot is the bill which may not be near as much as our American schools would charge. This being on account of Italia's modified socialist government.

This also news in terms of the scale at which it is being done. Sure we can jam a few dozen OC-192s into a 20ITU fiber channel multiplexer but this is being manufactured on a nanometer scale and for computer processing not communication.

I used to work in the at Intel (in this dept.) and in comparason to Atheros and Broadcom I concur. If you look at power consumption especially, Intel is the winner. There was a chip with 802.11a/b/g/n, Cell phone, and 802.16 (WiMax) produced by our friends at Intel. It didn't work very well at the time and was put on hold. I would give up the FM reciver for 802.16 anyday of the week.

Granted this is unfeasible by the very nature of the Internet...

To really understand the intention of Berlusconi you must understand that Italy is a modified socialist government itself. This man has his fingers in every sector of Italian business. I invite you to read "The Dark Heart of Italy, by Tobias Jones which outlines how deep this problem goes." Berlusconi owns the RAI, the government controlled television. He also has his fingers in AGIP which is the one gas (petrol automobile fuel) vendor that is also controlled by the government. Other gas stations may not sell gas at a rate under that which is set by AGIP. The bottom line is that this man is very powerful, very rich and not going anywhere soon.

A recent figure came out in BBC stating that the mafia run businesses in Italy are operating at the 120 billion range which is enormous in contrast to Fiat's 50 Billion a year market share. My guess as an Italian speaking American is that this man really wants some form of revenue in the form of taxes out of the deal because piracy belongs to the mafia in Italy and TPB et. al. is cutting into its share. In fact Italy's government controlled telecoms "Telecom Italia," has been known to block TPB but I am unsure they are currently doing this or blocking torrent traffic.

Then again, this is coming out in the register and notably not the most reliable source of information IMHO.

PS: To my amusement and Italy's shame, he stated that we elected a "very tan" president.

Your actulally quite right. The internet is a collection of networks not necissarily IP based. A majority of attacks exist on the IP side. Wide area networking technology carries all traffic regaurdless of the payload. If there is an attack on the border of your internal IP network the WAN cares not. If your border is penatrated and a connection is made to create another network, again the WAN doesn't care. Can the internet be taken down? Not if you have skilled and knowledgeable Information Security officers maintaining the network you reside on.
