    It will take time but I can see printing out circuit boards after 20-30 years of material science and studies.

    Before that though I can see a 3D printer that prints gaskets, o-rings, etc's other on demand. Eliminating the need for companies to stock them. After that will come aluminum, nickel, steel and zinc parts,screws, nuts, bolts primarily single piece of metal options.

    Complex parts will take longer, but you get those two and industries will be transformed.

    this is, Hey the iphone has those kinds of updates why can't my HTC/Samsung, etc.

    Seriously the only reason why is the carriers being stupid, and manufacturers not understanding the big software release picture.

    That's because the manufactures are getting the blame from users using the phrase.

    Well my iphone used to update why can't I update this one the same way.

    Wait until smart TV vendors realize they also have to provide updates.

    If you want locked down software like apple you must limit the number of models of devices.

    that's just it.

    only about 50-60% of the volume of trades on any given day are actually people investing long term in companies.

    The rest are day traders and high frequency traders who hold the stock for less than a 1 minute.

    They are the big causes of swings. As they are the ones watching every report. Look at it this way you invest in companies. maybe that company annouces some bad news. Investors may or may not sell within a day later. Day traders and HF traders buy and sell it a million times over in that same period.

    you do realize the only reason the banks collapsed was because they built a pyramid scheme out of mortgage insurance and their bottom most layer collapsed in on their greed.

    It is why they were all able to pay their bills so fast. They only had to cover short term operating expenses

    For every location that AT&T doesn't work but verizon does I can take you to a place where the opposite is true.

    All the smaller carriers buy from AT&T or Verizon, including t-mobile, Virgin, Sprint, and whatever your "local" company name might be.

    No matter what carrier your using the money is going to one of those two.

    seriously, when the commercials are worth more than the very boring game

    American football needs three very minor changes.

    No more field breaks for commercials,
    The three point field goal should be worth 2 points.
    The 2 point conversion should be worth at least 4 points, I like the score doubling 6 myself.

    Strategically if your in your 4th down and have more than 1 yard to go you kick the ball currently. These guys play so conservatively it is depressing.

    Not to defend Apple. but every other manufacturer of tablets, laptops, computers, cell phones release dozens of models every year.

    Apple generally limits themselves to just one new design/ upgrade annually and you pounce on them for doing two?

    At least apple supports their hardware for more than 12 months. If that was a dell model not only couldn't you get service or parts, but you would have to buy another one as it would be cheaper than replacing the power supply.

    It is the one thing wrong with Android devices, and Smart TV's. you never know how long they might be supported. and relying on a cutting edge community to support out of date hardware is stupid.

    Exactly the only way to break the music industry is for the artists to realize that the studios are taking in 50 ro 100 times the earnings they are for doing NOTHING.

    She shouldn't be complaining or expecting to earn more until she ditches the cartel she signed her soul too and starts earning that money back.

    Also most celloists and bands that I know earn more doing weekend live gigs, using the earnings to augment their primary day job. $500 - $1000 for 6-8 hours of playing to medicore crowd for a 3-5 person band Do that once a week and your bringing home enough extra to pay the equipment, or a nice vacation.

    The problem becomes the majority of people who don't meet that threshold are still smart enough to figure out they are stupid and which end to hold a weapon by.

    It is why democracy both sucks, and is relatively stable. The stupid(not just disagrees but actually stupid) have an equal voice even if they don't really deserve to it. But because they can say it and have it listened to, and most importantly because they don't suffer completely from it(social services stabilize peasants). Keep the stupid people mostly fed, clean, medically cared for, with an obvious way out if they work for it, and they won't riot or revolt as often.

    Frs Wilkie talkie bands are open CB channel max range of 5 miles. In an emergency the option to actually use your mobile as a communication device would be great.

    Why can't cell phone designers add yet another antenna and give us FRS(at least in the USA, Canada) walkie talkie features over a couple of miles?

    Heck the first one that does that and limits one channel to a slow data rate would be awesome.

    Don't worry about it. In 5,000 years my solar tap from neighboring stars will start working dragging extra hydrogen to our to burn, while at the same time replacing it with the helium and other heavier elements in the other stars.

    I figure I can add an extra 1 million years to the 5 or 6 billion years left in our star.

    Actually Solar and small vertical wind turbines on every roof would solve a lot of current electrical problems. The power generated wouldn't cover the needs of a household, but it would seriously help to stabilize the power grid.

    Sure we would still need nuclear or even coal plants.

    Now if we could find a way to store high energy electrical charges from those devices it would be even better.

    It is simple processing power.

    you hack a router the victims internet slows down. Whether your using bandwidth or not. They notice it, eventually call the ISP. The ISP makes you plug a real computer in and suddenly everything is moving fast again.

    You go to best buy plunk down some cash get another router. The old one goes in the garbage.

    Seriously since Office 2010 you have to pay for it if you want to use it the starter edition is useless.

    Of course I just use Open or libre office and am done. For what I need at home it works fine.

    They did put the batteries in a fireproof container.

    That's why the whole plane didn't go up and only the battery compartment was affected. The electronics a couple feet away was fine.

    Very few people understand just how big the universe is. I guess your not one of those.

    At .9C it would take 3 million plus years to get to andromeda the closest galaxy to us.

    At .9C it takes 5 years to reach the closest star not in our solar system.

    Even with .9C traveling generational ships colonizing areas within 100 light years is a multigenerational prospect
