    heres a thought. in the event of an absence of money for software, people LEARN to use linux and develope the skills themselfs.

    i mean fuck come on people, you only need to run knoppix or something to see it's NOT THAT HARD. and when faced with any other option due to finacial pressures i'm bloody sure they will use it.

    mind you this is all assuming they aren't just priating the shit out of MS products, which is more then likely. so i guess like it or not bill your donating to africa *grin*

ABC can sell to who ever they want, and if that means selling directly to consumers and it works then why not. there are parallels althrough industry where this happens, yet media companys think they are special some how? they can be pissed off all they want, who cares, that business evolve and compet or die.

    oh and ABC isn't bypassing anything. the local afflicates still go to air the show first, and we could see it for free vs the $1.99 on itunes, so your arguement just doesn't stand up at all. no what this bitching is about is they feel threatened, because it's giving people what they want, not whats good for their business. ABC has done nothing even remotely underhanded.

    depending on the licensing issues which the parent probably doesn't understand they could or they couldn't. the gpl is very bad for "infecting" programmers like that. i'm sure it'd be very grey ground to look at gpl'd code in order to write say a bsd version.

    see here is where you engineers totally don't understand about software design. You get to extend projects time spans to fit your saftey concerns.if a bridge isn't stable or unfinished you just get to say so and the project will continue until it is so.

    try telling your manager that your not sure your new email client project is secure and that you want more time to test it. see how far you get. THAT is why there is no parallel between civil engineering and software design.

    this whole fucking debate is about targeting OSS imho. shit like this will destroy all the non funded open source projects, many of them quite worthy. and not because they are bug filled or bad, but just because they won't be able to take the legal vultures circling them.
