That vg.no has come up with. I have a strong reason to believe that they present this bollocks now, when they're in the middle of a strike - to desperately get enough click-throughs for their ads.
Currently, I'm using a webcam that periodically
takes pictures of my solar clock - and uses
a piece of picture recognition software to
calculate the right time - which it feeds
the pc hardware clock with.
IMHO Microsoft Word is not suitable for technical documentation. Firstly, it's full of bugs, annoyingly slow, an contain a lot of unpredictable features.
During our last year, we're working on our main engineering projefct CHESS MCAP. We decided early to use Adobe Framemaker as our documentation tool, and is very happy about it. Framemaker 6 has the posibility to store documents in XML format, which makes it possible to use version control like CVS. (Which we use). There's also an extended version of framemaker; +SGML were you have the capability to base your documents on DTD's, like Docbook etc.
Why the h*** does they list both RAM and a combination of base mem & extended mem on their 'resources' page. I would have mattered if they had tested MS-DOS 6.2, but not Linux!!
Hmmm, IMHO a lot of the things in the article written about PHP is bollocks - like that API consitency is bad, and that there are virtually any IDEs (integrated dev. environments). What about Emacs for Gods sake! and I believe there's a win editor named phpEd wich will do the job.
The zdnet guys should have done better research
before writing the article.
On my homepage (check it out!) i've made a xml parser in php3 that parses the slashdot.xml into a more readable form. The thing is - and I don't know it's because of the new server, but yesterday, you (slashdot.org) stopped to put absolute url's into the or whatever the right xml-tag is. I know can just change my php3 parser - but I wanted to check if it is going to stay that way forever? pls comment. Is there set an aproximate date/month/year when we'll se the final version of this long-awaited browser?
IMHO IE 5 / 5.5 still is the best browser around, to bad Microsoft won't relase a Linux version (or will they, after the ongoing battle with DOJ).
The internal MS geeks probably have a Linux version of IE allready =).
