Anyway, the 2000 version of Godzilla was a guy in a rubber suit again. He fights a monster that starts out as a rock, turns into a space ship, turns into an alien, and then turns into a mutant Godzilla super clone featuring the super gene Regenerator G8... or something. 4 Stars.
You are thinking of the Godzilla with old-Ferris in New York. Overflowing with originality, they called it "Godzilla".
That is ridiculous. Of course it has impact. This is ad supported software... uninstalling it shrinks their user base and with it, thier appeal to advertisers. Granted, one person uninstalling isn't a problem for them, but all of slashdot uninstalling is a huge issue for Gamespy. Unfortunately, I can't follow suit because Arcade is such a god awful piece of crap that I stopped using it years ago.
Note that I mentioned in my post that I dont know if hate-speech is the right word for it. It wasn't meant to be a searing indictment. ( I don't have time to really research it, and Al Franken has pretty much done enough there. ) All I am really saying is that it takes 2 minutes to come up with a grab-bag of inflamatory, insulting, paranoid, or incorrect quotes. The previous poster had mentioned that no one challenged him because his arguments are rock solid. My response was that he isn't worth responding too. He isn't a journalist. Look at the FAIR ( fairness and accuracy in reporting ) writeup on his show... I believe they called it "Reign of Error" or something like that. Having millions of listeners doesn't lend you credability(think Howard Stern). This is especially true when you are wrong about things and you don't retract your statements. When was the last time Nightline made a mistake like the IQ/Cup size thing and never retracted it???
If you were kidding, I missed the sarcasm. Sorry.
Um, what hate does Rush Limbaugh spew, exactly?
Not sure if "hate" speech is the right word for it, but he frequently makes bizarre, unflattering, and factually malleable comments regarding women's rights supporters, homosexuals, environmentalists... Pretty much anyone who he fails to agree with. He is a big mindless right wing mouthpiece ( kind of like a less evil Ann Coulter ) and deserves absolutely no respect as a journalist. Please note I am not defending big mindless left wing mouthpieces here, so feel free to skip the reply about how Al Franken sucks or whatever.
Since "no liberals quote him", I would like to hold up just a few of his gems here. Its a mish-mash of paranoia, opinion, and questionable facts... Just like you get from tin-foil hat liberals.
Feminism was established to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream.
--Rush Limbaugh
"Militant feminists are pro-choice because it's their ultimate avenue of power over men.... It is their attempt to impose their will on the rest of society, particularly on men."
(Ought to Be, p.53)
Now I got something for you that's true--1972, Tufts University, Boston. This is 24 years ago--or 22 years ago. Three year study of 5000 co-eds, and they used a benchmark of a bra size of 34C. They found that the--now wait. It's true. The larger the bra-size, the smaller the IQ. (TV show, 5/13/94)
* This study is not findable via Nexis search and the president of Tufts in '72 ) is on record as having never heard of it.
"Women were doing quite well in this country before feminism came along"
* Well... they couldn't vote among other things.
The difference between Los Angeles and yogurt is that yogurt comes with less fruit.
--Rush Limbaugh
* This is funny because he called the gay population of LA fruits!! HA HA
"When a gay person turns his back on you, it is anything but an insult ; it's an invitation."
(Quoted in FRQ, Summer/94)
* This is funny because he called gay people mindless screw drones!
... there is a never-ending supply of this stuff. Nobody quotes him because his best stuff is ridiculous, wrong, racists/sexist, or just goofy opinion. There is no leftist conspiracy to ignore him. The man is a joke.
It's amazing how some people feel it's their right to not financially support news sources that they don't agree with but when someone refueses to support a news source they agree with, the objecting other person is a racist, bigot, radical or fanatic.
Allow me to respond as Bill O'reilly would: SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP! You should shut up right now.
Seriously, the problem people have with FOX news isn't that it is too conservative. It is that FOX news carries a blatant emotional bias in many MANY of its reports. I am fine with conservative ideas, and I enjoy listening to some conservative pundits ( ex: Tucker Carlson ), but FOX isn't looking to broadcast rational discussion of issues. They want big fights and lots of emotional content. The person who screams the loudest wins; this isn't how we should resolve disputes in the adult world.
Additionally, all Americans should feel perfectly free to boycott pretty much anything. Would you really prefer that we be forced to support specific products and services regardless of their behavior???
Hey wait, since I pay taxes to the state government and the state government funds public universitys and those public taxpayer funded universitys fund academic papers which I don't agree with, does that mean I have a right to complain about it?
Of course you can complain, but you can't boycott unless you are a student. Also, you do understand the difference between the peer review process and political debate don't you? University papers are simply statements of process and results. You are welcome to do your own study and see if you arrive at the same conclusion. Following that you can publish a paper and submit it to journals. Universities don't publish papers. Individuals do, and individuals have opinions that may be different from yours.
where later we could perhaps have two or three media giants offering a broader spectrum (CNN Politics, CNN Music, CNN Sports).
Replace CNN with FOX and (at least for me) the issue of mixed feelings is immediately resolved. I called the bloody cable company and said cancel my service or get FOX News out of my house, and I recommend that anyone else who finds FOX disgusting do the same.
The namespace concern is the only minus point with any merit...
The lack of Qt namespaces is a style point that I agree with. TrollTech uses them in the places where namespace association is important (and convenient) for the end user. The various flags (Qt::AlignHCenter, etc.) and settings are wrapped up in a namespace, but class definitions and functions are kept seperate for good reason. Scopeless primitives are much easier on programmer eyes and fingers as type information isn't constantly engulfed in unnecessary::operators.
QListView::iterator is easier to type ( and read ) than Qt::ListView::Iterator.
It is very easy to accumulate hundreds or thousands or references to Qt primitives in the course of developing even a small application. All those extra::'s are decidedly inconvenient. You can always go the route of using namespace Qt but then you are back to needing some sort of prefix for Qt primitives that makes them easily stand out. All in all, namespaces are really only necessary in situations like that of the c++ stl where containers like vector and list have such generic names that a system for preventing users from creating name conflicts must be present.
OpenGl is an example of a near perfect api in my opinion.
After we began shipping a linux version of our main server product, I began to notice more and more linux desktop ( and cygwin ) installation on our staff systems. Now, even my project manager and the company owner have seperate or dual boot linux desktops that see significant use. All it took to get all this going was a few internal howto documents that walked them through a simple secure installation.
This obviously couldn't happen in a more regulated atmosphere, but at small companies like mine you can often get away with anything you want so long as you continue to be productive and do not cut into the IT budget. BLH
What real purpose can these videos serve? It doesn't seem like someone carrying or planning a hijacking is going to be particularly detoured from continuing his/her planned course of action simply because they are being recorded. The only real application I can think of is as trial evidence (ie. Passenger disturbences, harrassment, etc.). The article states that the FBI could use it to identify criminals, but I would expect that the paper trail leading up to the ticket is a more effective way of tracking a criminal. Beyond that, this is simply fishing for faces.

I take pretty serious issue with this: Documentation:
Windows: None
RedHat: It's Linux, damn it. RTFM:P
Have you seen msdn? Pressed F1 in VC++? In my opinion, the documentation available for their various programming APIs and libraries is vastly superior to the *nix manual system.

Absolutely! Its kind of like the time someone pointed out to me that my grade school poem about not follwing the herd (written in the exact style of e.e. cummings) was either brilliantly sarcastic or a hilarious example of self denial. ( it was the latter...sigh 8th graders.. )
I love the sig, but at least get the punch line in there!
Bender: Ahhh, what an awful dream! Ones and zeroes everywhere... and I thought I saw a two!
Fry: Don't worry Bender. There's no such thing as two.

This is ridiculus. After you punch me, I simply go to my nearest LAW ENFORCEMENT BODY/AGENT and have you arrested. There is no deep lesson here other than violent attack is best handled by the proper authorities.
It seems to me that this is an argument for going to the UN. As it stands, the encounter you postulate is perfectly managable without a violent response. Vigilate responses are only justified when there is no functional legal avenue of resolution. Obviously, functional is a subjective term and thus our current situation. In Bush's estimation, the legal avenue was too slow to be effective... I hope his estimation is more polished that his vocabulary is.
You can always "change your mind" once you are passed the ticket takers.

any argument making frequent use of the term 'mitten' is intrinsically hilarious.

This site has a reasonable summary of his accomplishments.
Some that I liked :
Family and Medical Leave Act - Helped guarantee maternity/paternity leave and family illness.
Cut taxes for low income families (Under $27K)
Cut federal spending by 255 billion dollars. Even though we were in a boom his administration focused on a budget that wasn't pure fantasy.
Issued a new executive order to require polluters to disclose information to the public and expanded the public's right-to-know about toxic releases.
Fought for passage of and signed into law the Congressional Accountability Act.
