    45 minute count? You can blame your fscking stupid media for that... we publish our count results for a constituency when the count is finished, even if that could be midday the next day...

    and as for "voter intent"... anything that is not a clear mark in one box only is a spoiled paper... we don't have many of those here as our voters aren't stupid...

    no... encryption is useless if the platform you are processing the data on is compromised... ie. if it's secretely logging every keystroke/input you make, then encrypting the data is pointless which is waht really makes me laugh when microsoft et al start punting the trusted platform line... trusted by whom? The user can't trust it as who knows what signed code is required by the government of the day to be running behind the scenes...

    I have to declare the value of every meal I get taken out on by our clients & other 'gifts' if the total per day comes over £40... and even have to pay bl00dy tax on the benefit I've received... how come these swine get away with this?

    Note, there are moves afoot in the UK to start chasing our politicians on these house & boat lendings and other entertainment schemes to get them for the tax on the equivalent benefit in kind...

    the extended copyright terms should ONLY have applied to works FIRST registered after 1978 (the date of effect of the bill) and nothing registered prior to that... Imagine the howls of protest if they passed a bill that retroactively extended the sentences of people already convicted of crimes or retroactively extended back a change in tax rate to cover years of income for which you've already paid taxes on? Surely that 1978 bill was unconstitutional in the first place as it was retroactive in effect?

    Correct... in the UK, being paid in bitcoin would be treated as taxable income, but I'd have to pay my taxes in UK Pounds Sterling... same way they'd tax me if I were to volunteer my time in exchange for goods say in a barter economy where I volunteer ten hours of my labour to help put a fence up for you while you volunteer in exchange ten hours of your time to do something I need help with like painting my house... the UK tax man would hit BOTH of us with bills for the tax as If I'd been paid for ten hours at a fence erector's rate and you for ten hours of pay at a house painter's rate...

    Should've used a bsd kernel as the base instead of a linux kernel. The stable driver ABI would make upgrading kernels (which is sometimes required when moving to new versions of Android) easier.

    could have... but they didn't... which says volumes about the suitability of the BSD kernel for their purposes

    There's nothing to stop Google from choosing a particular version of the Linux kernel and only backporting security fixes to it... but they didn't. They've decided to keep updating the kernel to take advantage of the features that are appearing in the newer versions and also passing back their kernel work into the main tree.

    If you need to scream at anybody, it's the hardware firms who are keeping their stuff in proprietary binary blobs
