I have a similar problem right now... my current task is top, top priority... yet my resources have almost all (except me and a new guy I'm having to bring up to speed on the job) been dragged off to the other top, top priority job... never mind the fact that I have a drop dead milestone next fscking Monday (customer is taking the product out to their customer and the flights, accomodation etc. have all been booked)... and the other top, top project has their next big milestone 6 months off...
I'm simply saying that workers sometimes commit suicide, no matter where they are or who they work for. I'm also saying that Foxconn has a lower suicide rate than the rest of China, which means the opposite of what you and people like you try to imply, that Foxconn drives their workers to kill themselves with awful conditions. Foxconn does not cause suicide, Foxconn causes a reduction in suicide. This is a mathematical fact, and to argue otherwise shows a willful ignorance and irrational bias.

Article's a bit light on any details... but that facility has to deal with all that heat somehow... and using it to provide heating for local residents would be a very good use of it.
The problem is the companies are attracted to the WalMart prices for labor... or more precisely, "manufacturing services." The companies pay for results and get them. It doesn't matter that they murder kittens in those facilities does it?
It's not just the low labour costs... its the very lax environmental protection regulations as well plus the fact that there is basically no cost for protecting the health of the employees ie health and safety regulations.
