"Working overtime sucks the spirit and motivation out of your team. When your team becomes tired and demoralized they will get less work done, not more, no matter how many hours are worked. Becoming over worked today steals development progress from the future." Quoted from: http://www.extremeprogramming.org/rules/overtime.html
If your boss wants you to work 10-11 hours a day, he probably would get more done by asking you to work 6-7 hours a day instead, and canceling all non-stand-up meetings for the foreseeable future.
They're going to want to make an example of him. It doesn't matter if he's in control or not. If they have him killed or shipped to Gitmo it will be with the hope that others will shy away from releasing anything else.
Of course their plan will backfire when the encryption key to his failsafe is surreptitiously released by one of its holders.
I also highly doubt any plan that involved Gitmo or execution will deliver anything resembling the intended outcome by the U.S. Government.
That said....the U.S. Gov't hasn't made a single decision using a milligram of logic or thought in about a decade now. It's the epitome of "Ready, Fire, Aim!" and I wouldn't put it past them for a second to try assassination, execution, or Gitmo. It's not like the U.S. public image could get much worse around the world, right?
I went from an iPhone to a Galaxy S, and it's horrid. EVERYTHING lags, Samsung has been promising updates for 6 months now...and has yet to deliver one, and various aspects of the OS randomly flip out and stop working properly. (ex: When disabling bluetooth, it tries to connect to a remote sim, and gives a permanent notification bar announcement that it's "connected to null." Or the fact that I have to use a 3rd party program to keep my phone from shutting itself off randomly (Captivate Keep Alive))
I really like some of the features, namely the account syncing abilities, but overall the phone is a pile of junk.
The main thing that would be a big problem is that I frequently play WoW over my phone while tethering on AT&T. If I had verizon, was using the hotspot, got a call, and got disconnected from WoW, that would be supremely irritating.
Which must explain why I'll be switching back to iPhone next year after discovering how claustrophobia-inducing, sluggish, and unstable Android can be.
Exactly. It's a completely decentralized group. There's no "leadership," and only discussed common goals of people who are inherently individual. They're chasing wind, and that's really not an over-dramatization.
Scientists should come up with theories and pursue those theories.
Scientists should not be closed minded people who won't try anything unless they already assume it will succeed.
To assume that for life to exist the same energy production processes using the same chemicals in roughly the same way must all be in place is contrary to everything the origin of life theories state.
Who says we can't preserve carbon and still have something that is VASTLY different from the current life on earth though. It could be carbon based, but use carbon in an entirely different way.
To my point, what makes you think random-chance life elsewhere in the universe would need hydrogen or carbon, or a substitute for them, at all.
There are plenty of other molecules & elements that react with each other and release energy in the process without the involvement of carbon or hydrogen.
I also don't think you actually need to remove hydrogen and/or carbon from the equation at all. All I'm saying is that to assume that life elsewhere in the universe must be based on things that we see in life on earth is just ridiculous.
It could still be carbon based, but also completely unrecognizable by the standards of life on earth. Or it might not require carbon at all. Just because we can't imagine a certain combination leading to a certain result, doesn't mean it can't exist.
If an organization like nasa believes that life spontaneously formed by a random chance of proper elements coming together in a specific way here on earth, what in the world makes them think that random chance would be identical everywhere else in the universe? That assertion is just plain silly.
If there's other life out there, it may possibly be recognizable (maybe not), but is probably nothing at all like life on earth.
Random chance is just that....random. In regards to natural selection: nature would be vastly different in different places in the universe.
Random chance could bring some strange chemicals together on a planet with a 400 degree surface temperature, and "natural selection" could leave the life eventually looking a lot like mobile, or immobile, rocks feeding off chemicals floating around in the air.
Yeah, I literally laughed out loud when I read this story. Someone could put a large coke from McDonalds in the middle of the road, call police about the "suspicious object" in the middle of the road, and the "authorities" would go berserk about it.
I don't think it has anything to do with "Apple." People want the service, so they're willing to pay the price in privacy. You'll notice that with all the whining, blizzard's WoW is still just as popular as ever. More-so with all the changes that come down the pipe.
are you freaking serious? I said my camcorder did 30x optical and 40x digital. There's a CLEAR line there. Read: THIRTY TIMES OPTICAL. Don't be a shill.
Actually your typical point and shoot has a much deeper optical zoom than most DSLR lenses. a 10x telephoto lens for a DSLR is hundred or even thousands of dollars. Most point and shoots do 10x optical or better. Heck, my cheap digital camcorder does 30x optical, 40x digital.
Not only that, but with high quality 35MM film, you can get a MUCH higher resolution scan out of a negative than your typical DSLR can produce. High end 35MM film will capture the equivalent of 30MP+ images.
Indeed.

I don't care what you were working on...no job is worth that.
And then it would be ruled a suicide....

Uh...Why? If you were doing any internet related activity over a wifi tether, and any time your phone rang it disconnected...you'd be irritated.
Mine happens to be WoW, so I kindly ask you to get off your high horse.

tuaw has details about the pricing of their (unlimited) data plans as well as the hotspot app.

So hide your wives, hide your husbands, because they be rapin' everybody. They comin' fo you!
By the logic of the music industry here, if I tell you there's a jewelry store at the mall, I am now guilty of robbing it.
Funny, I didn't think I had anything to do with the TV industry.... :rolleyes"
Bah. I think Universe was the only good stargate series they ever made.

How is it flamebait? People have been saying this portion of the plan was unconstitutional since before congress passed the thing...

Sometimes evidence is implied.

Frankly, i don't find it even remotely "amazing."

Unless those random objects someday become NON-random, and you happen to own them.
