I don't recognize your problem with the microUSB kabel falling out. Occasionally I hang mine (Kindle Paperwhite 2) in the charging cable at work, and it haven't fallen out yet.
And doesn't most tablets support "holding down the power button" for hard reset, much like a power button on PC does? Both my iPad and Nexus does.

My Facebook app on my phone is still set to "off", so mine hasn't reset.
But since OP mentioned 2 browsers, my instructions was for how to disable it in a browser, and not the mobile app.
You can disable it you know.
