So clearly, the OP made the egregious decision to create this post just for the sake of flame bait.

Ok, so don't own it, but others feel, hence the purpose of this article/thread, if its protected, it must be compromised. I work in the "industry" and I still don't understand the sense of entitlement. Back when music was made on vinyl discs, there was one way to play it, on a record player. You could only watch film on a film projector. But since its digital, people feel like, screw it, Im not gonna buy it, movies and music suck anyway, it deserves to be downloaded on bit-torrent. Can the same thing be said for the work product so many concerned slashdotters create? Can it be arbitrarily dismissed and given away with no remuneration to you, just because some person believes the company should not charge for your work and protect your interest, and as a result you end up not being paid? Is it still okay then? Would you "work" for free?

If most of us were content creators that did this for a living we'd probably look at the issue a lot differently. Full-time developers are not gonna dev for free, and the common tools in the industry arent available for free, neither are the laptops, workstations, and space in which we work. Well thats a really arrogant stance isnt it? Do you demand to know the technical specifications of your televsion, radio, mp3 player, telephone, so you can inspect the quality for yourself (since you know what quality is) and have the abiity to modify them and fix it yourself? Unmount yourself from the sticking post, or how should i say this...get off your own dick. I know Linux fanboys like linux because it makes them feel smart, kinda like, those guys that swear of a gui because the command line is so much "easier since i know what im doing", or those guys that say, "reading the instructions is for losers, even though they could have resovled an issue in 30 seconds, rather than the 2 days it took to resolve the issue. if you are a player in the markets you will know that several analysts wanted advanced produst from apple and as always they refused to discuss such things and they began sending earnings warnings out for Q3, saying ipods were late, and this and that, the stock took a hit based on analyst rumours, and people that fell for that sold which affected the price, it seems you have to make the major analysts happy by giving them what they want when they want it, or they hit you back. Now it seems that analysts are reporting that apple is going to release a movie component to itunes and an itunes based phone, funny, the same headlines appear on appleinsider and other rumour sites. so read the stock price of any company with a grain of salt, you want the real picture look at the quarterly reports and things like pe ratio, ebit, etc.

Thats some of the most inane drivel and corrupted logic i have ever read on this site. So you're basically saying, ok yeah all the work you did securing the loan to make the movie, write scripts, design sets, etc., regardless of what it costs, be happy that you are getting something back right? That goes against the basis of the free economy. If an artist/inventor/average joe creates something, they have a right to be compensated to their work. Be it oxyclean, dd7, the pocketfisherman, or any other product/good/or server. Let me bounce this idea off you. You go to college for 4 years, get an IT degree, venture into the marketplace and start a Software Design company. Your build custom software for folks, one day you get a client , lets say a skateboard shop, and the software you write for them helps them better manage parts inventory, made specifically for skateboard shops, this customer that has just paid you for work decides that they are going to give the software to all the other skateboard shops in the region, because ot's so great and hey you'll get your money back, because they'll buy it after they have already been using it. So know you have a software solution that nobody needs becuase they already have it...for free. Are you willing to accept the loss and move on, because hey, you already got your money? you sold one copy of the software to a skateshop you built it for and now the other 30 skateshops in the area have the software so you have no market. To make matters more interesting, imagine you sold the skateboard software package for $1500 a pop, this piracy just cost you $45k! Sounds like a great idea...i'd want to stay in that business. the long and short of it is - having a pc and fast internet connection does not obligate you free intellectual property of any kind. Stop being leeches and contribute to the world instead of constantly taking, then ..maybe then, the world will be a better place. just my $.02.

If a pc bundle is advertised by the "interns" as being for $899, then i call or visit the webiste and i learn the cost is more like $1099 (have to mail in a rebate yknow), thats damn near a bait and switch scheme. This same theory wouldnt apply for other products because the manufacturer offering the rebate is responsible for payment and that is not often transacted through the reseller. But Dell has no excuse, they are the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party in this scam.
