I have that same Camera, and was able to get Digikam to work very well with it. I didn't even have to select the camera model in KDE's peripheral's configuration in the Control Panel, the automatic button was able to detect it.
Epson in the past has seemed to be the best in terms of opening up specifications to write drivers for scanners and printers. I bought an epson scanner for that reason, and it works great under USB. I wish the other's would be as open as Epson seems to be.
True, but there was a Windows-only virus running around (MS Blaster) that would attack the DCOM port of a windows box. Its a possibility that this virus could have had something to do with the blackout, therefore the OS does matter in this case.
I agree with you though, any OS can be made in-secure by the user. But IMHO, not all OS's can be made secure by the user as well.
And also interesting, that MS Blaster was running rampant around the same time, attacking DCOM ports on windows boxes. I've heard rumors of this as a possibility, but never anything official that MS Blaster could have had some effect.
Both sides are screwing us, in my opinion. The right needs to realize that we must plan for the future to minimize our dependence on oil (especially foreign sources). the left needs to realize that some short-term solutions (more nuclear plants, drilling in alaska) need to take place until the longer-term solutions are in place.
I also feel that we should use some solar in a reasonable fashion. especially in cities where they are consistently hotter, because of all the concrete. Out in the burbs where I am, I've seen a house that has some PVC pipes and a solar cell on their garage roof, must be some solar water heating system. Every little bit helps.

I've installed these kernels on top of Fedora, and they have worked great so far. I believe Fedora already has all the updated modutils, so I've just installed the Kernel RPM for my processor, rebooted, and have had success.
For laptop users, test 8 and beyond have the touchpad driver in them, so your laptop can be usuable with 2.6 again.
SUV's and Minivan's have pretty much the same fuel efficiency, not counting the escalades or excursions. mid-size SUV's such as the explorer are just about on par with minivan's.
I don't see how consumers who do not pay for child porn and are sane enough not to harm any children themselves can cause any noticable harm.
How do you know they are sane though? Do you want to live next door to someone who downloads and view that type of material when you have kids? Are you going to trust them to be sane? I sure as hell wouldn't.
There are 2.3, 2.5, and there will be a 2.7. The odd-numbers are development kernels. A while after 2.4 was released, a 2.5 branch was started. The 2.4 version was pushed towards stability, and the 2.5 branch received new features. When 2.5 was ready, it was re-branded 2.6.0-test1 and a few months after 2.6 is released, a 2.7 branch will be created based off 2.6, and new features will be added.
I'm a backseat environmental scientist too, but if the ice caps melt, then cold water will be carried down into the temperate regions of the ocean, causing them to cool. This in turn will cool the ambient air temperature of the earth, lowering it so that ice caps can form again.
They have a bunch of Linux related stuff on their site, such as http://www.sco.com/products/lkp/. It seems like they are still using the term "Linux" for selling some products. I don't know enough about copyright law to know if he has the power to do that.
Our goal with this, is to make it double-entry, but try to hide this fact from the user, unless you wanted to see the details. Sorta like a simple/advanced mode.
As for reporting functions, I'm not sure what our framework exists for that. You may want to post on our message boards or mailing lists on sourceforge to get some of the other team member's feedback.
I'm one of the newer developers on Kmymoney2. We are currently re-writing the services layer to become a fully double-entry accounting program. We are looking to add support for investments, loans, mortgages, etc, and are switching to a XML file support instead of binary. We are also trying to keep up with the latest KDE3 widgets and adding QIF support as well. International support is also high on our feature list. (I apologize to any team members if I left out your feature that your working on.)
Our next version is probably a bit away, but it should make us much more competitive to GnuCash in the future (esp. with the double-entry accounting).
It wasn't just because he linked to it, he also hacked into a number of government computers, which is not free speech. the slashdot article's title yesterday was very misleading.
The reason is, if they post what the code is, Linus and co. would replace it in a matter of hours probably, days at most. Then SCO would have no lawsuit. They have to keep it secret until this thing gets to trial.
Speaking of trial, are there any future court dates set already? I haven't heard of any.
Most geek users are already using Linux. If you want to grow that number, being user-friendly is the only way to do that.

Was china just given a range of IP addresses so that its easy to block all access from china?

Linus owns the copyright to the word "Linux", right? Could he revoke their right to use the word "Linux" in any of their products?
I apologize if this is already well-known information.

I'm getting 240-250KB/s, not exactly slashdotted. It might be costing them some $$ for the bandwidth though.

Please mod this up...the source code is available from Linksys.
