  1. Define cheap... on Replacing a Thinkpad? · · Score: 1

Over the past 10 or more years I've noticed that the prices are not that much cheaper from China. Lower cost doesn't mean lower prices for the consumer, it means lower for the company to make so the executives and managers can have larger bonuses and salaries. Now, I have a T-20 and recently upgraded to a T-60. It works like a champ and seems to be solidly build, but I haven't dropped it yet (but soon)... Regards, ran6110

You can't always expect a "new" technology to have all of the answers the moment it starts up.

Many of the wireless access providers complain about not making money. They don't understand I don't want to drive to Starbucks for access, I want it where ever I am (including at home) when I need it.

Well, even if the form factor was usable who could afford to buy it now? I think most of their potential customers have had their jobs sent overseas and are now working down the street for minimum wage. me

So if it looks like a small/personal or bandwith challenged site someone from Slashdot contacts the owner and arranges to mirror it for a few days. Beats the hell out of shutting him down for the rest of the month or expecting him to fork over hundreds of dollars just so we line up for a free peek! Or how about arranging with the web host to give them a little advertising to let the load through... ran
