Its not the researchers blocking the access, its company (I'm assuming privately held, with stock holders) that are blocking the research. Don't get me wrong; I hate that orgs like this use public funds and then lock the results behind a paywall, it takes some bawls to be like that. But lets place the blame where it lies, eh? That's right, the steel industry was. Name a union that's flourishing; I'll do it for you, the UFW. Oh yeah, they don't have to compete for jobs over seas.
Your comparing apples and oranges; all the countries you mention are socialist countries, the US is not. Those countries have other financial issues caused by their welfare cradle-to-grave operations. But that's not the issue. The simple fact of the matter is the US auto industry has been brought down by the unions unwillingness to bring labor costs in line with the rest of the world. You're going to tell me that isn't actually the case? Then pointing to socialist countries that you claim work? I think Europe's current fincial state says otherwise. Your argument needs some tuning.

Pithing ideas for a talk around while cracking jokes is how its done on tv sitcoms. It can really work.

Well, I'm having a problem with the effect the current legal status of substances and vice have on society right now. You mean legalization will make things worse? Oh my. We'd better clamp down even harder then.
I'm slightly peaved that NO ONE seems to believe that I am owed a cut of whatever ducats MY information brings in to the people that sell it. I assume that some sort of disclaimer with regard to my info is a standard part of all the the hundreds of EULAs I've had to agree to in my life. But it still seems reasonable to me that if people feel like they have a right to sell that information, which is meaningless without my existence, I have a right to a cut of the profits. Reasoned arguments against?
