Heh heh. If I could put you in my friends list twice, I would. You got balls.

By the way, is Slashdot's performance still sucking for you? It is for me - I usually have to hit preview 5 times before a preview page actually comes up. The rest of the time it just displays a blank page with the Slashdot logo and sidebar. Maybe it's just Mozilla - with the way the financially desperate Slashdot editors are selling out left right and center, I wouldn't be surprised if Slashdot soon required IE6 to run properly.

It's NOT JUST THE MODS - It's the Editors themselves! I have only been using this account since today, really, (it was dead for like a year), and I flamed Apple hard for sucking today, and I now automatically post at Zero. The editors are ALL onboard with the Mac OSX brainwashing scheme. I remember them saying all but 2 Slashdot Editors use OS X now. Jeezus, I remember when geeks actually used Linux, not the system I recommend for my grandmother and retarded schoolkids due to its brainless nature. I guess all their worship of open source was a sham. They sold RMS out pretty damn quick, I'd say.

The editors are corporate whores, and I guess Apple was the highest bidder. Or else they really DO have subliminal messages in their OS... who knows? It's closed source. Nobody can ever be sure.

AWESOME WORK, Editors. Modded to Zero in zero seconds flat. Nice censorship. So I've already pissed off one of the editors, first day back. That's really sad. Which one of you guys is it? I'd guess Michael, but that's just because his pseudo-fascist reputation precedes him. I guess I've learned my lesson - don't mess with Apple Corporate. Thank you editors, for showing me you have a price. Can't wait for the stories "Open Source Really Does Suck", "Freedom Overrated", and "Microsoft Closed Source Software Not Really That Bad" from CmdrTaco and sponsored by Microsoft, maker of 90% of those really fine ads I see flowing here. Hmm. Apple doesn't support you. Weird.

Interesting that not only does Slashdot use web bugs and cookies, the editors also have a corporate agenda now. Do you see how far you've gone? No, didn't think so.

By the way, the software I mentioned really does exist. And you wonder "why the mods are on crack". Oh, well, I guess you know best. One guy has the power to judge all based on his personal viewpoints. Must be nice. I'll just stick to praising the Multinationals for their wonderous offerings from now on. Consumers should be silenced, "Shut up and eat what you're given", as they say. Thanks for the lesson.

btw, your Slashdot code has gone to hell. Are you ever gonna fix it or are you too busy censoring free speech?

    Dear AC:

If you think you're going to get modded down for that honest and insightful comment, think again: the Apple Shills(TM) are organized now, better than any shills ever have been here on Slashdot. Typical Apple. Like their forerunners, the Nazi Party, they're doing things very efficiently with great focus on their goal. Knowing mod points are valuable, they don't waste mod points pushing down ACs, they use them only to promote very pro-Apple viewpoints, while simultaneously pushing down anti-Apple viewpoints of logged in members. They know NOBODY reads at 0 or 1 anymore.

I've seen an automated p2p-like program for manipulating Slashcode sites, it goes something like this: Take 50 people with a single objective - to manipulate opinion in their favor. They all create 10 or 20 separate accounts each. They start posting from all 20, focusing on being funny, karma whoring, etc. in order to get modded up. Once one of these 1000 or so accounts has high karma and thus sometimes access to mod points, they use their mod points ONLY to mod up the others in the group. Soon, ALL of the 1000 accounts are at Excellent karma and will regularly get to mod. Think about it: 1000 accounts all in the mod point pool. If even 20-30 get mod points every day, that's 100+ points to spread around modding up their pro-Apple propaganda and censoring the truth for their corporate benefit.

The software manages large numbers of accounts, logging each of them into Slashdot in turn in the morning and returning a '1' for mod points and a '0' for no mod points. That way they know which accounts are to be used for modding and which are for posting. Thus they can control the way the conversations go, and what public opinion seems to be. And last but not least, they also meta-moderate with each account daily in order to further manipulate Slashdot. Simple, isn't it? This is basically how Apple does it, and how Microsoft did it in the late '90's, when they still cared what customers thought (before they were found guilty and George W's punishment was to issue a Service Pack that crippled Java and killed Linux compatibility).

And if you are naive enough to think they're NOT doing this, I've got a Bridge in Stupidville to sell you.

  9. Trollish Wisdom on Apple is Porting iTunes to Windows · · Score: 2
If any of you dimwits actually read the Fortune article that was linked right here on Crapdot, you'd note that it says the Music Store will be available to Windows users by the end of the year.
Jobs, however, isn't targeting just Mac users. He plans to roll out a Windows version of iTunes by the end of the year. (Apple already sells a Windows-compatible version of the iPod, which accounts for about half of all units sold.) It is a dramatic departure for Steve, who has deliberately kept the Mac's best features off the screens of the much larger Microsoft-dominated world.
This isn't news, us literate smartass trolls have known about this for days.

Imagine if Microsoft made Windows98 completely perfect and bug-free, then went back to releasing the same old crap again. We'd all buy 98 and stick with it until they pry it from our cold dead hands, right? That's what happened with music (or should I say Muzak?)

The RIAA used to release good music, but they won't make that mistake again.
