  1. Re:first again? on TrustedBSD Announced · · Score: 1

You know, I have been a reader of /. for some time. I find that those who really READ the information availible here usually don't post worthless drivle about being first. Does it really matter? Does it boost your ego that much. I pitty you. I hope that you get a life soon, before you are left behind in the evolution of this world. What a waste that decrepid minds like yours can type but have nothing of importance to say.

    Now, as to the article...
It will be nice if this project sticks with us for a while. I remember when the documentation for the os's were multi-chaptered books that usually weighed as much as the system the os was being installed on. Remember DOS 3? Almost every command had a page (if not more) dedicated to its use.

Some of those extentions will most likely make it to my toy system. It will be good times for all. :)

  2. Greatest Hack - (But don't ask me to prove it.) on Slashdot's Top 10 Hacks of all Time · · Score: 1

My first nomination has to go to GOD. To create a universe from just the word of mouth...ouch! And man from dust? Talk about an unusual use of system resources. All this in six days to boot. Now before I get people e-mailing me about evolution vs. creationism, look at it this way. If creationism is wrong, then my second nomination has to go to the guy (St. Peter?) who started modern organized religion. To come up with these ideas and then get half the world to believe it - truely remarkable.

  3. Re:It's all about nerds. on Geeks vs. Nerds · · Score: 1

I tend to agree. Nerds are much more driven by intellect and knowledge aquisition. They don't care so much about being an "in" person because they have found there place and are happy to be there.

Geeks are much more deprived. They want to be part of the hip croud, but for some reason are unsuccessful. Quite oftain it is because they have the unpopular creativity (that is sometimes lacking to the nerd). They are the Sci-fi writers, the AD&D players, the Star Trek fans, and comic book owners... without the excessive IQ.

That is why it seems that "Geek" is derogitory to "Nerd". I'm a nerd. I love sci-fi, but I understand the science behind the fiction. I help create the fantacy word that the geek has wet dreams over.
