Actually, Moore says that chip complexity will double along with relative performance, not clock speed. If Intel goes ahead with dual cores, and maybe quad cores later, then Moore's law is safe...for now

  2. Re:Here's my view on all this: on HardOCP Sues Infinium Over Legal Threats · · Score: 3, Interesting

Hang on, how did HardOCP mislead their readers? I read the article and now have the distinct impression that the phantom gaming console will remain just that: a phantom. It also appears that IL's claims of having many game developers signed up were at least premature if not completely false. It seems to me that this is exactly what someone should get out of the article and has been supported by independent sources. Malicious or not, Steve, the author, didn't lie as far as I can tell. What IL wants Kyle to remove from HardOCP are Steve's opinions and the information he used to form those opinions. I don't think that's going to happen without a court order.

As for a messy legal battle, perhaps you don't understand what they filed. Kyle filed a "declaratory judgment lawsuit" in order to "clear the air and terminate the flurry of demands, allegations, and defamatory Internet posts directed against HardOCP..." This will bring the situation to a head. Hopefully, it will also be the first step to end this rather silly situation.

But really, do you feel that IL has been honest and open about the state of their, um, product?

I would agree with this statement. I'm typing on a 101P right now, and I can sustain 60+ WPM on it. Most keyboards feel like mush. The difference is comparable to the difference between a grand piano and a cheap casio keyboard. Not to mention that the keyswitches will outlive me. I got my first 101P (I have three now), in 92. I have used it through 8 machines as my primary keyboard. I recently had it cleaned (at www.northgate-keyboard-repair.com BTW), and it's just like new again. I've tried the Avant (I have a Stellar 101), and it's just not the same. Look, it's real simple. How many keyboards do you know of that have fan clubs?

No need to kill him. I got my first Northgate in 1992, and now I have three (home, office, spare). Easily the best keyboard ever made: perfect for long nights of coding. In fact, I'm typing this on one right now. Of course, they aren't made anymore, and I'm not real fond of the Avant copies. Check this guy out www.northgate-keyboard-repair.com He has several refurbished 101's. I sent my old 101 in for cleaning, and bought two more that he had.

I fell in love with the OQO concept as soon as I saw it. It's a pity that complications arose. I recently contacted OQO for an update, and got this response: Hi Jason and thanks for your interest in OQO. Yes - yes - yes - the product is definitely coming out. We are planning a major product launch in mid-September at PC Expo in NYC. Let me know if I can answer any specific questions. Regards, Steve Halland This was received on 06/10/03

Who the hell said that that was the equation to make a good action flick? Look, I know this is subjective, but I think it does a disservice to serious movie makers (actors, directors, etc) to assume that this movie needs poignant character relationships or an important message.
Granted, I prefer an action film have a bit more than guns and gore, but I certainly don't need a deep meaningful discussion on "why." All I need for a really good action flick is a little character development (so I care who wins), a defined setting, and a coherent plot. Once you have that, you just add action and stir.
In an action flick, plot and setting are there to move the action along. Everything else is just too subtle to play in a film like this.
If you want cyberpunk with philosophy, go read a Gibson novel.

but that question was simply there to set up the action, not enlighten or challenge you. I loved the first one, but it was pure escapism, nothing more. if this movie is 10 times the action and 10 times the SFX, as the mirror reviewer states, then it will be 10 times the movie (ideally speaking of course). Hell, I want people to be passing out in the theater due to the action!
