Use a weather balloon, make a rig for it with some fans controlled by servos. (Either that or get a ready made R/C zeppelin) If you're using the weather balloon setup, you obviously want to do some experiments with how much helium you put in so it is mostly neutrally buoyant. Get an Arduino and you can get the GPS and camera parts that are ready made for it. Hook up your Arduino to the servos and battery as well obviously. Bonus points if you can rig a solar panel to the top to charge it up a little in flight.
I think it could be done for under $500 and some time building/programming.
But then again I've never touched any of this stuff.:D
Stalking and Sexual Harassment are indeed problems, but I'd rather take a stand against publicly sharing this much info.
We as a society are losing our value on privacy, and that's what really is more creepy...True, I'm a dude, but I still would never dream of telling people exactly where I am and when. It's not that I fear for my own safety all that much, I just don't think it's everyone's business.
I think we need to take a stand against sharing too much in general.
If they could make these in color I would love to have a giant one of these as a picture frame! It would use less power than digital photo frames so long as it doesn't change that much! You could have a Monet on your wall one day and a vacation photo the next.
If you want to reduce piracy, there are much better ways.
I would bet that Apple has been the most successful at this with iTunes. Not because of their stupid DRM format, but because it's easy to get music legally, possibly even easier than the piracy methods.
This kind of legislation wastes all of our time and money and is an abomination. It'll never work, you'll never kill piracy. It wastes taxpayer money as well as the ISPs who have to implement this kind of thing somehow, and it very literally stifles innovation.
Going through congress is the wrong way to combat piracy. Just being clever is the right way.
I am frankly shocked that you can say something like this.
Of course it's a loss. But just because the results are not immediately applicable to anything does not mean it's worthless. This kind of research increases our knowledge of how the universe works, and that in and of itself is definitely worth publicly funding. We are increasing the sum of human knowledge. There is almost nothing more important.
Imagine you are driving down the highway with this thing and a deer jumps into your lane. The lane next to you is empty. You have to veer around it and don't exactly have time for a turn signal.
Will this thing actually stop you from changing lanes and force you to hit the deer in this case?
I haven't gotten one of these lately, but I did a while back get a political call that was very annoying. I hung up and the phone rang again continuing with the message. I hung up again, and it called me back.
This was like 6-10 years ago I think. That can't be kosher..
Software is complex enough that even the most diligent programmers produce bugs. It's nigh impossible to create 100% bug free code.
I think this would pretty much kill the industry as well as be detrimental to hobbyists.
My totally random guess here is that they are a group of people who probably knew each other well before creating this group. More than likely they have just stopped calling themselves LulzSec.
They're just getting too much scrutiny most likely.
I don't think this is the last we hear from them, just they won't be calling themselves LulzSec necessarily...
Yeah but how far is it okay for employers to look into their employees? How about DNA testing?
I do compartmentalize my presence, but as a side effect I don't use Facebook much. Should employers be able to now ask your friends (who's contact info they obtained and you didn't give) about you? What about your ex-friends from high school? Not the ones you still keep in touch with, but the ones who you decided were pretty much morons and didn't want much to do with anymore.
Sure all that doesn't relate to FB directly, but it seems like lately we must give up more and more of our personal info and given the job market, the compulsion to always conform to some standard would get extreme.
This should be illegal. This is pretty much why I have a Facebook account, but don't use it often. Everything I post or do goes through a filter of "Is this going to be detrimental to my future?"
Perhaps we already have the kill switch in all our intel processors, and they are just exposing it a bit so they can make it a selling point for consumers...
I thought this article was going to be about 3D printers and culinary science...

Several backdoors were found in the latest versions of the code...

I would switch ISPs if I ever got a notice like that. If they are inspecting my traffic, what else are they inspecting?
That gives me an idea - call it "The Bobbit!"

Egad! First blood, now heads!
Most likely I think this is because MU is dead. No point in fighting for the dead...

Happiness...

It was a pretty cool worm robot that pretty much did the same thing... Here's a video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZL6RGkPjws
But it would mean other stuff is usually sacrificed (Either Money or Durability probably). Why not just make a mini mortar for them or a slingshot?

AIs to grade the papers I would assume would result in some folks developing AIs to create the papers...

I will get it just so I can brag about my "Super Wii" :)

Gives new(old?) meaning to the term virus. ;)
I think I just puked in my mouth a bit.
