    No, because they came up with the name in the same way we got the term "spork." If you're going to mash words together, I think it doesn't much matter if you take the beginnings of words only or the beginnings and ends.

    "AOL Over [existing] Broadband." I think such a product is profoundly pointless. Heck, I get "unlimited" dial-up internet access with Juno for half the price of this "AOL Over [existing] Broadband." Why on earth would anyone pay for this?

    Sorry, I just wanted to rant.

    AIM mail may provide a lot of space but it is not compelling compared to gmail.

    I strongly suspect that it will be compelling for all those AIM users. How many non-techies know what POP and IMAP are? In my experience, all they care about is being able to check their email, and webmail access usually does that for them just fine.

    I think this was a very smart move by AOL. Although, I do think they're idiots for not doing this long ago. Not that I've been following it closely, but it seems AOL has been lacking in the innovation department for some time. Case in point: why the heck haven't they started offering broadband?

    Oh freak on a leash... I meant "did you know a cube tray full of boiling hot water will freeze more quickly than a tray of room temp water?"

    What happens is that the boiling hot water evaporates much more quickly than the room temp water. Evaporation leads to loss of volume... so the tray of boiling hot water actually does freeze more quickly. Give it a try.

    I don't mean to troll you, but this makes me think you have never been hunting. ;)

    I agree with you about hunting wolves from aircraft; there's no sport in that. In fact, I find it unethical, unless the hunter is wheel-chair bound or something, or if it's being done as legitimate "varmint control." (N.B. I don't know what the status of wolves in Alaska is.)

    Now people will have heart attacks instead of just saying, "What the heck?" and getting frustrated.

    Blues (and greens) are generally more soothing/comforting (which is why blue or green are most frequently favorite colors), whereas reds are more jarring (which is why it's used for stop signs, warning labels, etc.).

    Not this Republican. I just called my Democrat Senators to point out that (a) I'm a Republican and (b) the Democrats have a wonderful opportunity to put heat on the Republican Party.

    Of course, since both Parties like to put slimeball riders on legit legislation, I doubt the Democrats will do anything...

    I'll be "-1 Redundant" here: bills should be single issue.

    Rights aren't taken away; they can be violated (wrongful imprisonment) or forfeited (when you do wrong, i.e., commit a real crime), but a Right can not be taken away. A Right can not be legislated (voted for), either. You have Rights because God gave them to you, or, in the words of Jefferson, you "are endowed by [your] Creator with certain inalienable Rights."

    If a police officer wants to take you down to the station because you won't present an ID card, that's false arrest.

    It was my understanding that the courts said the police can detain someone in order to "ascertain their identity," which might entail a trip to the station if you don't have ID.
