What about the open source beer ? http://www.voresoel.dk/main.php?id=70 Made by a group of students at the IT-University in Copenhagen. It seems that they just copyed that idea.
To set the record strait: I'm from Denmark
Why all this anti americanism???
As far as know ICANN have done a good job so far, and if you look at ICANNs website you will see that: ICANN's Board has included citizens of Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Ghana, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, Portugal, Senegal, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States. So I would say that it's international already.
Why can't we view this, as we do with open source? It's an international effort.
Or should we say that any LAMP server must only be used in Finland, USA, Sweden and Denmark? No I don't think so.....
Damm it... Just one more eksample why a patent system on software stinks.
Come on 'Internet User Identity Verification'...
As I remember the first thing they tryed when connecting the first 2 computers, was to login on the other computer. So there has been patent infringement from day 1.

When two products have equal capabilities in relation to your tasks, but one is $650 and one is free, the choice becomes really simple.
If you use Photoshop in your profession then the 650 dollars does not matter. Think about how many hours you then spend working with the program. Eventually you will have spent more money on the coffee, you drink while you work, than on the program itself.
I know a carpenter, who loves his work. He and I were discussing OSS over a beer one afternoon and I came up with this story.
If he comes here to fix my roof, and let's say that he used 14 hours over 2 days to do it. He goes home, sits at his computer to makes an invoice. For this he uses a program that I have made. I have to pay him for his time, about 600$, but he does not have to pay for my time.
"If you do that you are stupid!" he said.
We both love our line of work. So why is it that I have to pay him for his time, but he does not have to pay for my time? I am not talking about getting very rich, but sooner or later my roof will need to get fixed. And I have to have the money to get it done, and fame and respect in the OOS community will not pay for my roof.
>Just think if Windows made the shift, there would no longer be ANY operating systems in active development that weren't based on UNIX in some way. >Is that a far-fetch dream or a reality slowly taking shape?
A nightmare !!! I don't want any monopoly, even if it's linux.
One of the fastest ADSL connections is 2560/768 Kbit/s for 136$ with no download cap. I pay about 50$ for my 256/128 Kbit/s. So it really sucks to some of your connections.
The fastest connection, that I have heard of, is availible in Lund in Sweden. 1 Gbit/s for about 100$. http://www.labs2.com/pr/press2004113001.html
