I'm of the understanding that the military is not in fact Islamic - yet. Essentially we (US Gov) are paying them a lot of money to keep the boat from tipping over. We are basically being blackmailed implicitly insomuch as no official demands being asked of us, just that we know what will happen once the money stops flowing.
The EMP and radiation would wipe out the television transmission for several moments following the blast. I'm pretty sure all the archived footage was shot with film which is a chemical process because of that.
And yes, tube technology was far more resilient to an EMP compared to transistor (let alone micro chip). Again, it was a signal transmission issue upon detonation. A blackout period.
Pakistan. Should an islamic revolution take over the military, I fully expect a bomb to go "missing" only years later to be found exploded on US or European soil. Of course, not by Pakistan, but by some Islamic fuck looking to jihad himself to paradise.
In our current system, we are placing trust in a system of profession. In the 'sharing economy', trust is placed in the individual. If you don't feel like being social (you're an introvert for example), than the sharing economy concept is not for you.
That's where marketing comes into play. If you're offering a product/service that's mid-range (medium quality, medium price, medium value), it's more important to make your offerings stand out from the crowd. Some would point out that this product is the worst of both worlds. Marketing is there to not lie, but provide a convincing POV a why it's the best of both worlds for the value.
Don't discount the mid-range market. It's alive and kicking for a reason. People value it.
No, his understanding of human nature is spot on. People are inherently selfish creatures at the sub-concious level. Unless you re-write the human genome, we will always be selfish bastards! More so at the collective unconscious level than the individual. BTW; capitalism is both the understanding and acceptance of this view, and, based on the idea of harnessing this natural behavior for the betterment of mankind at the conscious level.
Disney is an IP company. The vision of Walter has long since been dead only for the momentum of his IP to carry the name forward. It's about purchasing cheap toys and talent and marking them up to insane levels. Give it another generation or two and Disney will be just another ho hum name. BFD!
Anyone notice the lack of innovation and the shitty re-design of the Mac Pro? Apple is trending the same path after Jobs left. Ditto for Microsoft after Gates. Companies that thrived off leadership of one man are doomed to failure after said man leaves.
Let the DOJ or the DOD put ALL 69 Companies in jail or shut them down. Especially when the government is dependent on most of them and the citizens are customers of all of them.
And they will! Have you learned nothing?! Politics trumps logic. Always always ALWAYS!
Either you "play God" and accept all responsibilities for your actions, or don't get involved in the first place. The bullshit attitude of fucking around with the code of nature, introducing change, and then washing your hands of the problem via stating natural evolution is a cop-out. Either your involved and stay involved forever, or you're not. There is no other way around it.
Civilizations rise and fall. What happens after 500 years of this suppression that the human race no longer has access to high tech (thermonuclear war)? We've just doomed millions of children about to be conceived during this period. And while it would be a minor issue compared to an event of a societal collapse, it's still another form of misery we have inflicted on future generations.
You do know we have a "doomsday vault" holding most (if not all) the seeds for the crops we grow, right? The idea being they serve as an original genetic source in the event we genetically engineer our plants to extinction. It's a way of saying "oops, we hit a dead end and now need to walk back and start over with original source material". We don't have that luxury with human beings let alone other animals. People aren't Cabbage Patch Kids; you can't grow them in the ground. With seeds at least, anyone in this world can plant them should the world turn post-apocalyptic.
Of all the adults out there with Downs Syndrome, how many of them go on to get married and have children? Of those that have children, what is the likelihood of this abnormality being passed down the family tree? I'm not disputing their choice to procreate. I am however concerned that suppressing the extra chromosome will lead to healthy adults (which is very good), but also have normal procreating life and thus pass it down to the next generation (which is bad). Do we to to encourage adding severe genetic abnormalities to future generations if all were doing is suppressing them rather then removing/correcting said genes? For the sake of the human race, this requires serious consideration.
Microsoft Bitlocker and Apple FileVault are the two most popular forms of disk encryption used. I'm pretty sure the NSA can access any Bitlocker drive. Without question they can access FileVault if you uploaded your key to Apple for safe keeping.
I'm guessing he picked up the phone an called an attorney. Rather then tell him to sleep off his crazy idea, they latched onto it as a springboard to sue Apple. Jackpot Justice. So even if he loses, the lawyers win via collection of services rendered. It's fucking low that scum like this prey on the mentally disturbed!
Let's be clear. This was political from the get-go. The democrat party wants their pound of flesh. They will get it. Zimmerman represents the embodiment of pro-gun and self defense against the savagery of a cultural subset of a particular race that vote Democrat at last 90% of the time. This will not rest.
Zimmerman needs to seek asylum in another nation. He's not safe in the US anymore. I can only imagine the bounty on his head set forth by the gangs. I'm guessing it's in the millions!
Just a guess, but I wouldn't be surprised if it used stereoscopic vision to assess in figuring out the Z-plane and not just the X,Y. From there, it can infer the geometry and angle of approach of the carrier it's about to land on.
Speaking of; at least MaximumPC is still in print. I've picked up a copy or two from my local Micro Center store. It's great when you want to spend some quality time on the crapper and unplugged from the Internet.
Profit is the goal. The control aspect is just their idea of securing that profit. At the end of the day, it's about doing a job and making money. As a group, I can't imagine entire office departments wringing their hands like some super villain plotting to take over the world. Most likely these are law firms on salary justifying their jobs by "doing something" to secure that profit. Evil is evil. It's just that this form of evil is based on logic, not emotion.
Ok, you bring up a good point regarding cost. Just keep in mind that computers are really cheap with it being more cost-effective to throw away a consumer unit vs spending someone the time to remove a virus. This does not (yet) include the owners doing the work. It's sort of like the $15 CD player (Walmart special) 10 years back. If it broke, you didn't fix them. Recently there was an article about cheap WiFi chips and how they can be put into virtually any electronic device. Apparently the ICs can be made so cheap it's like popping candy out the machine. In 20 years from now, who knows. You might even be able to pour a bucket of liquid nano machines and "paint" iPads on the wall. It's far fetched, but you get the gist - cheap.
With regards to security: Either you trust the input device or you don't. Assuming you trust it, making a secured RPD / Citrix like connection will be a non-issue. The session would be encrypted SSL back to the 'cloud'. All of your browsing, e-mailing, gaming, AutoCAD drawing...etc would be rendered in the cloud. The thin-clint session is basically one advanced remote KVM to the cloud virtual computer. All encapsulated and encrypted end-to-end.

I told you so. (again)
Give everyone else around you a banana. Just don't eat one yourself. Problem solved.
That reminds me... Don't forget Yasser Arafat.

You also forgot Wangari Maathai, and African Nobel prize winner. She believes AIDS was developed in the West as a biological warfare weapon.

Ubiquitous 'I told you so'!

So can a divorce.
And yet ATMs and gas pumps are exceedingly popular regardless of the uber rarity that card skimmers have been hacked on.
Your forgetting that people will gladly give up security for convenience. The market proves it.
