    Same situation with me. Wife and son got mildly sick, I got hit harder; and that's even after I got immunized a month ago. In my case, it wasn't the flu, it was the day after where I felt great, then I quickly got pneumonia leaving me to hack up yellow and green globules of crap.

    No the flu. It's always the pneumonia that strikes right after that's a killer.

    Nitrogen.

    CO2 buildup is what causes you to gasp and struggle to breath. However, a lack of Oxygen will just cause you to pass out. Breathing nitrogen will prevent CO2 buildup while starving the body of oxygen.

    FYI, you choose your own path. But I believe suicide is wrong, and against the will of God. That said, given certain circumstances, I can't say I wouldn't be a hypocrite myself.

    This is normal of Microsoft; taking what now is a desktop OS and bolting on features to make a Server edition,

    Examples:

    Windows 2000 --> Server 2000
    Windows XP --> Server 2003 and Server 2003 R2
    Windows Vista --> Server 2008
    Windows 7 --> Server 2008 R2
    Windows 8 --> Server 2012
    Windows 8.1 --> Server 2012 R2
    Windows 10 --> Server 2016 (Xbox services, really, WTF????)

    Speaking of Server 2016, damn, was that rushed. It was a total bolt-on to Windows 10. MS didn't even hide the fact.

    If they don't want to take the personal risk of getting caught doing something illegal, then it's self-evident that they shouldn't be walking into shithole nations.

    Journalists are supposed to be reporting on the news. They're not there as some holy crusaders to change the world only later to cry about being caught. So excuse me while I play the worlds tiniest violin with regards to whether or not their photos are encrypted.

    Holy fuck! The ignorance in that statement is astounding!! To all reporters - when you're in another nation that doesn't have freedom of the press and/or other constitutional rights, you do as you're ordered by authorities. If a police officer in China for example tells you to hand over the password to decrypt the data, you better do it or risk being thrown into a cage!

    When it comes to VM infrastructure, we're a pretty conservative shop. Whatever the bleeding edge is, often we're a full version back. v6.5 is mature about now, so when I spoke with someone from VMWare (a BTW question for an unrelated technical issue) how well the HTML5 UI was with v6.5 over 6.0, the response I got was that it's better, but still go with Flash.

    I really wanted Flash killed in fire. No, scratch that; I want it devoured by a black hole never to be seen again with zero chance of ever coming back.

    I love how the VMWare vSphere client recommends using Flash over the HTML5 interface, even for 6.5.

    1. HTML5 based UI should at least be fully implemented by now.
    2. Flash is, and remains to be absolute ass!
    3. The stand-alone vSphere client was perfect, but doesn't support ESXi 6.5 (only 6.0 and below)
    4. How in the fuck can VMWare code ASM and C++ code, but can't get something like HTML5 right, and fallback on Flash.

    The world sucks!

    It's about break-even when you consider a full lump-n-dump of the full suite every so many years vs monthly where you always get the latest edition.

    It's a win-win for both businesses that rely on the software and Microsoft as there's a fixed cost that can be budgeted each year. It's consistency vs unknown expenditures. Businesses prefer the former.

    Apple is rudderless on leadership. Normally that's been a "bad thing" for Apple and their pursuit of innovation since Job's died. But this time, it might scare them enough to re-design the next iPhone to be user battery serviceable friendly. I'm not saying they will, but given the public outcry from this, I'd say the odds have improved greatly of that being a possibility. Time will tell.

    TurboTax mostly exists because our Intuit and similar companies fought against having it be simple to file your personal taxes [propublica.org]

    TurboTax having enough power to lobby is equivalent to me standing at the edge of a pool, proceeding to piss in it, and then making a statement of how I've risen the level. While technically true, it's rather meaningless in the grand scheme of things.

    No, the reason our tax laws are so complicated is because to simply the code means taking away legislative power to social engineer society. THAT is power. They will NEVER give that up. The all powerful console that it is full of buttons, levers, and knobs. Replacing that with what otherwise could be a simple single rheostat (adjusts the laffer curve via tax rate) eviscerate Congress of that power.

    Batteries have always been a consumable item. I hope you're not assuming they should be replaced for free short of an actual manufacturing defect. It's like me going back to the car dealership and saying "hey, my brake pads are worn out real quick" While true, it would be dishonest of me to also not mention that I autocross forcing me to use my brakes more often.

    Battery life is wholly dependent on factors such as usage and environmental conditions (are you indoor most of the time, or working in hot climate outside...etc)

    Bullshit. It's Globalism dummy! What do you expect when you're in direct competition with slave-labor in a 3rd world nation that can do your job over the same internet. Oh, and manufacturing is cheaper too with less environmental regulations (because China doesn't care about its citizens).

    Union. Actually, I'm in favor of it, not because it will solve what you suggest, rather, because it will hasten the exodus of jobs out of this nation even further. Maybe then people will get a clue!

    But you're probably right - Maxwell GPU architecture is 256 CUDA cores or less. An aging GPU make sense being it's small enough to fit on a SoC solution such as the Tegra X1 - and Nintendo has a custom variant of it. Is theirs baed on a die that sacrifices core for more cache or some such? Who knows. But even if it was stock-stanard, I doubt the ROI would be worth-while on a console that expensive.

    Oh, I was thinking someone buys a bunch of XBox One units (like in the hundred/thousands), shell the casing and rack-in-stack in a custom enclosure with custom cooling. Linux OS booting to mine coins etc. Again, thinking large scale here, not little Timmy letting his console mine at night with the TV turned off.
