"The Minions of Satan, I mean Time-Warner Cable"
I'm not directed this to you, so please don't take offense. But its comments like these that I hear often that basically state that cable companies are evil and greedy. I'm not saying you're saying this, but for the most part that's the kind of flak I hear about TWC.
What most people don't realize is that paying for the fiber and coax, installing it yourself, and maintaining it costs major money. And trust me when I say Mother Nature causes havoc on our network (slow modems, disconnects, poor reception, macro blocking = very irate customers). Also, TWC does NOT make money on TV stations. Where we do make our bread and butter is on the recording features and on-demand access, but also on the Road Runner subscriptions. Other then that, your local cable company in large cities are nothing more then a conduit for capturing content from satellite and piping it through your home. Also, lets not forget the employee and leased equipment expenses as well that customers are having to pay.
I'm not saying TWC isn't a profitable business, because it is. But it's not like we are making hand-over-fist either. There is competition in Austin, and we know it....which is a good thing for the customer as a whole including myself. But please, would people stop this 1980s concept of cable companies being a monopoly!
Notice that Channel 14 doesn't exist and how the lower chanels skip around a bit. But the closest to 121.5Mhz is Channel 15.

Ready? Ok, basically it's this. America doesnt give a DAMN what you euro-elites think. This is about AMERICA voting for an AMERICAN president who is sworn in by oath to protect the citizens of America. If Americans want to debate who should and should not be president, I'm cool with that. But for a bunch of Euros to start telling us American citizens that Bush is evil is insulting. It doesn't matter who is the president. But when you insult our elected officials, you are also insulting the majority of the American public who voted them into office in the first place.
Now, please...PLEASE PISS OFF.

You know, Clinton was handed Osama on a silver platter...and rejected the offer on "legal" grounds. Smells like political BS to me. The WTC was attact along with the USS Cole. And Clinton didn't do a damn thing to stop or prevent it.
Clinton slashed military funding. Clinton had bi-lateral talks with N. Korea and it failed (time for new stratagy...multi national this time)
Meanwhile, Bush got fucked because of the failures of Clinton and thus the Bush administration is playing the cleanup crew. Hell, even the ecconomy took a double whammy from the DOT BOMBs AND the 911 event. Talk about be compounded. So naturally, Bush is having to lower taxes to undercut the momentum of a dropping ecconomy.
And then there is Kerry. Jesus, where do I even want to guess what he can or will do. *shiver*
I agree. Clinton sat on his ass and did nothing, but that doesn't me he should be blamed. If anyone is to blame other then Saddam himself, it would be the worthless and corrupt UN. That whole oil-for-food program was dirty little scheme. Hell is it any wonder Russia and France were against the war? The knew once Saddam was out of power, political SHIT would hit the fan! Well now it has. It will only be a matter of time before they grovel back at the table wanting bidding scraps to help rebuild Iraq. I say screw em. We fought a the war with alies, and we can divy up the booty as see fit (booty being jobs and investment, not theft).
Honestly, I think Arnold has what it takes to be a great leader and president. But sadly, he will not be able too. The reason being that even if a constitutional amendment is put into place, it will take many years before it goes active. And by that time, he will aready be to old to run for president:(
Time Warner in Austin will disable your modem remotely if the system detects port scanning from the device connected to it (PC, Router...)
I ran into an issue once where this customer had a repeated history of service abuse. The issue of course was a virus. It was logged over and over in her customer log that she formatted and reinstalled the PC with her Dell restoration disks (dell walked her through the process). So when it came to my attention with the customer called in for the 4th bloody time, I asked her if she was using a wireless router. She said "Ya, I have a blue Linksys wireless"
Well folks, she learned a valuble lesson to never leave a wireless router unprotected at an appartment near the UT campus. Obviously someone else decided to leach off her connection and blow infected viri down her modem, hence SHE got blame for it.
It's called liability. The last thing Dell wants is for a customer to say "A Dell Support agent recommended I use product XYZ" And yes..because you are on Dells watch as an employee, Dell is liable for any advice you give a customer regardless of the fact you would use the words "my personal recomondation is...."
Face it, Dell that is a landmind of an issue they do not want to step in. Once the futz around with a PC, you are the last party responisble in the eyes of the legal world.
A government can turn into anything other than a democrocy if the people of the nation stop caring about their freedoms. What else needs to be said? Seriously!
HALF of the internet connectivity related issues are spyware releated in that it corrupts the TCP/IP stack and Winsock settings in the registry. Also, we had major problems when people installed SP2 on an infected PC with spyware too.
In fact it's so bad. I have the Microsoft KB article 817571 bookmarked and always open on my desktop for when I take calls.

Everyone talks about vote this and vote that. You know something? Every day we are voting when we spend money. But the sad thing is most people don't see it that way, so they end up casting their vote and not even realizing it.
I hate to have this view point, but a plutocracy seems like nothing more then another layer in democracy. But it doesn't have to stay that way as long as people wake up and smell dollar bills on a positive note (pun not intended).
It's a double edge sword. On one side, you save the tax payer money by alowing the free market to compeate for the job of doing the task. On the other however, it's not centerally managed (hence lack of privacy assurance).
In fact, when you have a form of socialism in place, a vacuum of power is left. All it takes is someone or a group to take advantage of this. And thus you have set into motion an ideal enviroment for tyranny.
And so shall too the government be apointed to divi up the booty of surplus. Welcome my friends, to a new age of socialism. At least that the path we are headed too.
Question is, will the human race get socialism right this time? Me thinks no. Because the human race does not play fair with eachother in a local community (it decays after a few generations) let alone an entire nation.
I wouldn't worry too much about these "neo sapiens". Sure, they will exist but as a minority. But eventually, nature will take over and they will thin out their 'new' bloodline throughout the rest of the human race through breeding your standard homo sapiens.
Again, I'm not really worried about it. The sexual drive of the human race will far outstrip the ability to synthetically craft genomes for the creation of "neo sapiens".
By biggest fear though, it genetic discrimination. For example, what if I'm rejected for medial insurance due to my family history of heart disease through genetic mapping? What about future employment? I know this has been covered in the movie Gattaca, but it really portrays a sobering vision of humanity.
They will spend it if they want to invest in their company and it's future. When you expand a corporations infrastuction, you have the ability to expand and grow to service more customer...thus gaining more profit.
The scenario you describe are scumbags that ran Enron. The fact of the matter is, you will have good and bad companies alike. Personally, I would never work for any corporation with such business practices...nor would I invest in such companies with shady objectives and greed.
But hey, if you don't want to work for someone else, do the work and be your own boss. It's tough, but you get to set your on schedule and run a company in your own image.;)
