    Ah yes, the place all geeks pine for. Well, the government wouldn't do much intrusion simply because it wouldn't be funded. But private citizens would have access to all sorts of spying mechanisms. You would have to use anti-spying mechanisms to defeat it.

    If copying information (which wants to be free) is not illegal, then there is absolutely no basis for the lawsuit at all. So that's a benefit of abolishing copyrights.

    This is another of the evils of copyright. If copyright was abolished, there would be no reason to suspect a smart card programmer was going to be used for something illegal. So there would be no way to extort money.

    That's the future. This is a great move by IBM, just to get the mindset to the masses. Eventually we'll get beyond copyright and patent, but this is a start--even if it's by a huge corporation.
