ours is 50 years, though. there was a /. post a few months back, regarding the unclassification of the documents from roswell on the date of the "alien landing". if i remember correctly, it reported the weather, and had nothing about little green men in a saucer...

McLean (not McClean, which would be an irish disinfectant) isn't too expensive when you consider it's just a drive up georgetown pike or old dominion to Great Falls, VA, the area that bumped Beverly Hills off of the map. I grew up in the lesser side of McLean (still a great area), literally walking distance to the CIA. When the CIA shooting happened in the early 90's, my school got locked down. anyone know which intersection it is? oh, and Craw, head along dolly madison, get on the GW parkway, take the key bride into georgetown, right on M, left on wisconsin (or, depending on what time of day it is, left before wisconsin, R on P street, and then a left onto wisconsin), and head up. right before the top of the hill on wisconsin when you're getting towards the safeway, there'll be a thicket of bamboo on your right, surrounding a parking lot. there lies the Japan Inn, THE best japanese food in the DC area (my dad lives in georgetown and works in Asian Economics, trust me on this one). not only do all of the waitresses speak japanese, but most of them don't speak very much english! it's hella expensive, but also the best Uni in the city (save maybe Uni Sushi near dupont). anyways, word to your moms, and spell my town's name correctly :-D

why do i sense dissapointment in some people regarding the solar flare? like more and more geeks, i don't use my land line. ever. i've got digital celluar which covers all of my phone needs, and only use the landline when a static IP is preferable :-)

i use the internet for just about all knowledge i require... except the internet. i still buy books for language development and the such, but those are more for referance than anything else. plus, i detest reading books fron a computer screen, but maybe eInk will solve my problems.

  9. back and forth on Hybrid/Electric Vehicles: Should I Buy? · · Score: 1

a friend of mine had one of the first Honda Insights. his general evaluation- not the greatest vehicle for the city. the pickup was slow, which was the main complaint. the MPG in the city was great though. theoretically, due to the astronomical gas mileage, it would be great for road trips. the problem is the size- hybrid vehicles tend to be extremely small, making them less than optimal for serious roadtrips. however, here is the major plus- living in richmond, i don't have any local LAN spaces (that i know of). i have, however, driven to DC for said purposes before. a small hybrid can get you to a distant LAN with more than enough room for your box, a sleeping bag, and a g33k riding shotgun :-) so, i'd say, if you have anywhere over a 45 minute commute, get one. but then again, i ride a motorscooter most of the time.
