Netbooks, it is not just the OS it is also applications. So budget semi disposable netbbooks in the $100 to $300 range can't be loaded up with $500 dollars worth of software before you can actually use them. I am still looking forward to the day when M$ recommends OpenOffice.org to make the windows OS more competitive. Netbooks represents the big shift in computing where you basically just add data and perhaps mesh networked games and all the applications you need are already installed on the box for 'free' and ready to go.
So really really hard sell, $100 versus $500 and you have to waste additional time and effort to make the $500 actually usable ie install those applications.
Of course every man, woman and child, does not have a separate property to which the Government can connect fibre to. It has be known, of course it might be only a rumour, that some men, women and children actually live in the same house and will only share one connection, of course don't expect me to provide proof, submit statistics or properly reference that statement.
From my point of view with my crappy 5k from the exchange ADSL flaky 3MB connection, thank you Mr Rudd and thank you to the Australian Labour Party. It will be interesting to see all political activities streamed over broadband and commercial entities completely shut out of political activities, no need to raise corruptive funds to pay for commercial air time and that will be combined with much better access for the voter to their political representatives.
That is really the biggest problem with all the latest windows OSs, they simply can't STFU and let you run the applications you want to run with the maximum efficiency you can. They are forever sticking in stuff that does the end user no benefit at all but gives them the opportunity to charge for extra licence fees, reinforce or establish monopolies in other areas, sell access to the OS to other companies, shut out any competition, create lock in, charge manufactures licence fees for computability, force end users to upgrade etc etc. Personally I got it with the machine and basically use it to turn my PC into a game console but I guarantee it will be absolutely the last version of windows I bother to use and kicking and screaming I will absolutely not buy a machine that does not come with Ubuntu out of the box and, I might, might mind you dual boot to windows to play games.
Well then they can always demonstrate their integrity and walk away or, as is more likely the truth, simply continue to prevaricate to try and assuage the other lesser race of Thais, the non-royals. Personally I wouldn't believe the yarn for a second, either behave like a normal human being or be treated like the stuck up, overrated, anti-democratic, venal, self serving archaic throwback to times of inhumane monarchical rule, when literally millions had to die all over the world to break monarchical rule and force the resurgence of democracy.
No the poster was being specific, all be it a little brief ie. the Thai (just to make sure that other non-anti democracy and free speech families might take offence) royal family and their military supporters are ants and enemies of democracy. Really this is about the worst and most offensive insult against humanity. It is pure racisms at it's most extreme ie. one family separates itself as an oh so special race, and the rest of society are sub-human by comparisson. Evidence of course is not needed fro the crime as one royal asswipe merely needs to make the accusation and a citizen goes to jail.
Oh well, so be it. Is there a reward scheme for dobbing in people, especially foreigners. Thais could advertise for foreigners willing to insult a bunch of stuck up royalist wankers and claim the reward, I am sure there would literally be hundreds of millions of people quite willing to tell the Thai royal family to exactly what they think of this kind of law and low lives who implement, after all there are plenty of other places to travel to in the world until, the ultra racists royals have been deposed and tossed into the dustbin of history.
Basically that is the idea. We continue to ruthlessly exploit and pollute the planet, so the rich can get richer. Than flood out all major coastal cities, so the poor can die in the hundreds of millions, basically the haves and haves more principle as concocted by lobbyiests. Ice ages have happened in the past and then the planet heated up as conditions changed but, there were not cities housing billions of people in danger zones, or a whole range of pollutants scattered around those cities to be catastrophically released into the environment.
You really have to understand that there are people amongst the rich and greedy and their supporters who really don't care if all life expires on this planet as long as they were rich and powerful along the way. So no matter what proof or, how apparent it becomes they will continue to lie and pay for those lies to be spread as long as they believe they can profit by it.
Basically, you continue to refute their lies and work as best as you can to realistic solutions and prosecute the charlatans along the way.
Torture is torture no matter how fine a dressing you try to put on it. Arresting people is one thing, using chemical weapons to torture people to try to force them into obedience is another.
No what is going on here is a neat trick of modern B$=PR marketing. They are spending $20 per house to 'upgrade' the network but, the article doesn't say from what it is upgrading ie, from lower bandwidth fibre to the home to higher bandwidth fibre to the home.
So typical modern news as marketing B$. Think about it, even when fibre in the street how much would it have to cost to cut into the fibre, lay it to a point in the home from the street and and the outlet, no way you can get that done for $20.
So no news there, yes it costs way more per house to upgrade from copper to fibre optic than it costs to upgrade existing fibre optic.
Same old lies about why the are holding up upgrading to fibre, truth is they have got an existing inflated investment in copper which has to be scrapped and they intend to hold onto it for as long as possible and, they will do everything them can to block government from actively pushing investment in fibre to the home. Upgrades to fibre are simply being done where the government in that country is acting in the majorities interests rather than the minorities corporate executive greed.
That is not the real problem with a nuclear weapon free world. The real problem is denial, every country could claim an absence of nuclear weapons nut, realistically how many would lie and retain a secret stockpile, just in case. Much like chemical and biological weapons, look at the US, they have been using chemical and biological weapons on their own citizens when the weapons are supposedly banned (rampant excessive use of pepper spray, in bulk extended range weapons is a chemical weapon especially when it is used to torture peaceful protectors, along with taser electric 'whip') .
Not quite right. There are limits in the methods that can be used to discover peoples secrets. In this case the politician as it was a government email service has to declare what method was used to discover the supposed identity of the blogger. If the methods used to obtain this information break some laws, privacy laws, cyber laws, theft of privileged company data, etc. then the politicians should be prosecuted.
Easiest solution is to buy each employee a pocket radio. Greed to the point of insanity, if you many people listen to one radio pay fee, if each person listens to an individual radio no fee.
It is more accurate to say that the image does not in fact represent a child, it does not event attempt to approach photo quality, in fact the image only represents a cartoon character, not a person at all. Of course that would be for normal adults, obviously Australian and English judges have real trouble differentiating between cartoon characters and real people, now that is a real worry, it makes you wonder what other delusions they are trapped in.
I mean cartoons of the easter bunny having sex, which is it, bestiality or child pornography, after all bunnies don't live to reach sixteen years of age. Now here is a tricky one, carton characters might originally been depicted as say ten or so years old but after they have been around for 10 years are they now 20 years old and it is just that their features have not changed, which is what the courts are attempting to say by attempting to legally define the age of, pen on paper.
The reality are these laws are meant to protect children from harm not adults from 'er' dangerous penmanship. Currently the most damaged element in society is marketing/PR agencies trying to sexualise children at earlier and earlier ages because there is a profit in it, they are selling raunch to pre-teens http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raunch_culture and this is legal and does real damage and is incredibly dangerous but, I guess it must be OK because major corporations make billions of dollars of profits by doing it:/.
Toddlers unlike slugs are also stubborn, selfish and attention seeking. Refusing to put on the coat can also reflect the learnt skill, that refusing instruction results in more attention and becomes a fun game, the toddler training the adult rather than the adult training the toddler.
To really understand the learning patterns of children you need to combine it with the learning patterns of their parents;).
Sun had made a move to open source prior to openoffice, even then they struggled for years with star office, I bought the first version available from sun and that was more than 5 years ago. Over that period they really struggled with the open source transition, trying to keep one foot in each camp and just getting their legs spread, ready to be done over by M$. It is only in the last year that Sun has started to become more successful and they still have a long way to go.
Now compare that to the out and out leaders in open source revenue, all with no real open source package of their own even though they have contributed significant amounts of code, IBM. They developed their skills organically, didn't buy into any significant open source package, but supported all the more popular ones, they really have been the quite achievers in the open source world.
That is somewhat misleading. It is all about you renting access to your data and applications and being subject to lock in. Well this is the way the chief promoters of 'crippled' cloud computing view the world or at least are trying to convince potential customers that this is the only way to view the digital world.
This combined with, oh noes, they will hack your computers if you try to do it yourself or only their employees are competent and all the other tech people in the world are incompetent because if they were competent they would be working google, no wait that's wrong, they would be working for M$, on no wait, Yahoo etc. etc.;D.
I see you really have no understanding of why a big three letter company buys a small company. They buy it because the big company lacks expertise and they are trying to buy it in. Perversely the existing employees at the big three letter company now go into job preservation mode and attempt to undermine and remove (fire or force them to quit) employees of the small company because they threaten the jobs and promotional opportunities of those that have clearly demonstrated their incompetence, after all they had to buy in the expertise because they were incapable of developing it internally.
So rather than a corporation you are dealing with all the individuals in the corporations and their own personal motivations. In corporations you don't get promoted because you are good at your job, you get promoted because you a are good at getting promoted or have relatives in senior executive positions ie. typical corporate politics.
With open source the reality is, if you want it to succeed you must develop it internally you can not buy it in because the existing corporate environment has actively blocked it's internal growth. So the hard bitter way is the only way it really works, retain the windrones that want to retrain, sack the ones that refuse and hire skilled penguinistas where ever you can beg, borrow or steal them from (as their numbers grow they eventually will get cheaper). To get the real growth in open development you need to change the corporate philosophies in those areas and it needs to be done organically to produce quality results.
That is really incorrect. Surely you should have seen the way modern marketing and PR works. They simply lie, they know they are lying and they don't care, just as long as they are being paid to lie. No matter how many facts they are presented with that show the errors in their statements or substantiate the scientific theories they are attcking, they don't care. They will simply wait a couple of weeks, slightly adjust the lies and start all over again.
The corporations that pay for this activity fulfill their stated goal of maximum short term profit for shareholders by using this advertising to continue the exploitation of the environment. Even when this is pointed out they simply reach for the good old, prove it (no matter how many times astroturf has been proven in the past) or, you are accusing them of lying because your theories have holes in it (regardless of how much science you show them).
So no theories work, no explanation works, no science works because they already know the truth, the are simply being paid to lie, so they lie. Too put an end to the deceit you simply have to find and target those paying for the deceit. As for Freeman Dyson, born December 15, 1923 ie. 85 years old, perhaps not quite as sharp or with as reliable a memory as he used to have, I certainly wouldn't chastise him for it, it is simply the way of things. Personally I prefer the work of a large group of diverse scientists in the prime of their intellectual lives 40 odd to 70 odd, specifically in science but not necessarily in philosophy.
Largely used open source code is great, in fact those same countries that are infiltrating and spying on others use it to try to keep their machines safe. However I seem to remember the US government inserting chips in printers that well, were used to break the law in other countries. So those cheap computers chips coming out of China, good luck trying to run secure software on basically unsecured by design hardware.
The thing to keep in mind is how many of those ghostnet machines came out of the factory already compromised. In this case global trade can be used to punish miscreant countries. If a countries network is causing damage to another countries network resulting in damages in the billions under existing international laws that country is liable for that negligence and should be forced to pay the other countries costs via civil suit in the International courts and the WTO. It after all represents the theft of digital data and the purposeful exportation of corrupt and destructive digital transmissions.

In this particular case it is fairly easy. This bill specifically cites Islam as a religion to be protected. However due to the nature of Islam, it as a religion which is in flagrant contravention of many existing UN and international laws, regarding freedom of religion and equal rights. As such the UN can not protect an organisation whose principles specifically infringe upon the rights of women and even muslins who wish to change religion.
The UN is not a representative or democratic body as governments who are autocracies and are not representative of their populations vote as well as of course substantive population differences that are completely ignored. The UN main roles are in global aid, the resolution of conflicts between nations in a non violent manner, assist countries in resolving violent civil unrest and statements of principles protecting the individual. It is quite clear that from past abuses that people need to be protected from religion no the other way round.
The truth is that some people require some form of religion in order to make peace with the uncertainties of life, I have not problem with that nor should anybody else. However religions and the religious are still bound by laws and should be criticised when their actions contravene accepted laws, and when their publications contain messages of hate, then those publications need to be subject to the law in an appropriate manner first and foremost. If I were to produce a modern publication that call for the murder of believers or the claim that believers are somehow subhuman, I would expect the publication to be seized and that I would be prosecuted for committing a criminal offence. Those who reproduce and distribute older publications that state the same about believers of other religions or non believers are required by the law to be treated equally under the law.
As it stands at the moment all the hate laws currently legislated through the world are being flagrantly abused by the continued distribution of books full of hate and defamatory language targeted at those that do not believe that particular variant, so where are the bloody prosecutions. Calls people demons, spawns of Satan, pariahs ie. subhuman nonbelievers and that is OK and, legal WTF?
Well to be persnickity, you could still claim that you black vehicle shades the bitumen road and hence even when parked is neutral to it's environment, except of course car shiny ie. reflective regardless of colour versus bitumen road.
So to be fair, painting the roads white, before picking on car colour makes a whole lot more sense.
Doesn't any body RTFA, the carbon gets locked up in the protective shells along with silica, and sinks to the bottom to form 'LIMESTONE' you pack of goobers, if it gets eaten, it gets excreted and redissolves in the water, and more to the fucking point "The researchers tried to provoke a second bloom by fertilising the same patch of ocean three weeks later, with no success - most probably because the water was already saturated in iron". So as they would say 'whacko' half arsed experiments with our enviroment aren't really all that good an idea and apparently this one is still running out of control, whoops;/.
Well in fact the use of it is a complete lie. DRM attempts post sale theft from the consumer. Any attempt of DRM that is used has to be made clear at the point of purchase. Any attempt by any DRM device that attempts to damage or impinge upon the use of devices owned by the consumer is in fact a criminal act under numerous cyber crime laws, where said actions where carried out with out the consumers fore knowledge "prior' to purchase.
So in reality as it is currently being used DRI is more appropriate, as it is digital rights infringement.
Unless it is clearly stated at the point of purchase, what damage the content I am purchasing will do to devices upon which I install that content, including spinning up of CD-DVD drives - basically unfair wear and tear, forced online registration - theft of internet bandwidth, theft of rights of resale - limited number of installs, installation of undesired software - theft of hard disk storage space, loss of computer performance - unwanted drivers making use of CPU cycles, you are stealing from me.
I assure you whether you steal a little bit from everyone or a lot from just a few people you are still a crook, a pirate stealing what does not belong them, a criminal waiting to be prosecuted for stealing from millions of people. So get your legal facts straight and learn to recognise who the real criminals are for a start it is not the customers who buy you content.
A red light ticket is for crossing the line at the beginning of the intersection not for crossing the line on the other side of the intersection. The camera should be set far back enough that it takes a photo of you crossing the line at the entry of the intersection rather than the exit from the intersection relative to your path of travel. So light turns red and the camera should take a photo of your front wheels crossing the line. So running a red light is about 'entering' an intersection when the light is red.
I hate to break it to you but, I live in a country with strict gun control laws which were implemented after similar circumstances. So, not my problem, you want the data, you can do the research and work yourself, I am not your slave;P.
Netbooks, it is not just the OS it is also applications. So as they would say 'whacko' half arsed experiments with our enviroment aren't really all that good an idea and apparently this one is still running out of control, whoops ;/.
So, not my problem, you want the data, you can do the research and work yourself, I am not your slave ;P.
