It's tearing people apart, just like the yoyo did or the hula hoop, or any other fad. Seems big today but it will fade to nothing. Once it is seen as uncool to be on facebook, old fashioned, out of date, it will die. For now, lets be cruelly honest, it mainly keeps the narcissists occupied and out of our lives, just don't join them on facebook and they ignore you. Same as for twitter, just don't play in the overgrown children's playground and they are not a problem for you.
The way to form better relationships, visit people with your phone off, use email and write well (snail mail is pointless) and call them. Maybe the odd text but keep the number down and strictly utility stuff, not relationship crippling stuff and of course forums express and work with ideas and thoughts. For the shallow, the nonsense of fakebook and twitter fills a need and keeps them away from us (little bit cruel but they are happy and we are happy, else they would be pestering us, why do extroverts always have pet introverts they harass with their presence but the introverts are too polite to say anything).
Also all email should be encrypted by default. Not particular complex encryption, it doesn't need to be all that complex, just sufficiently complex that it needs to be decoded to be read. Similarly to the security of a paper envelope for snail mail, the only reason to encrypt is to tie a criminal penalty for decrypting other people's email without their permission and the penalty, why exactly the same as illegally opening other peoples letters.

There is geek/nerd psychological interest in this. Take it from the viewpoint of under standers looking at the world of believers, the look before you leap crowd vs the hesitate and lose. That itself is an interesting study in social genetics, how a society produces both, to solve social problems ie a problem presents itself and there is a believe structure to solve that 'style' of problem, the believers jump in without hesitation and try their luck with their belief, succeed and quick solution, fail and well, they are dead and the under standers who seek to understand the problem and understand the range of solutions to the range of problems within that style of problem, then work out a solution. That catch for under standers, they could perish, whilst they are attempt to properly understand and solve the problem, that could have been solved believers using a belief that happened to work.
From an under standers point of view, believers look really immature, those kids who you could never tell to not run with scissors as adults still running with scissors, well, at least until the trip and stab themselves once and how now created a belief on why it is bad to run with scissors. Those individuals will never look at the sun again without protective eye wear.
Social genetics at work, we evolve as a species and as a society not upon an individual basis. Hmm, sounds like self inflicted injuries. One thing happened, the professional paranoid got a hold of it, exaggerated the hell out of it and then all of them felt they were under attack. That constant psychological stress, affected their brains sufficiently to affect the senses they are attached to. Don't think of it as a one off but in affect a sustained psychological attack upon their own people, generating a continuous state of high stress, fear, paranoia, all feeding into delusions that created real physical harm. Think of it grinding on, hour after hour, day after day, for months, the threat of someone attacking you and destroying you mind, the message reinforced again and again and again, have you been attacked, have you heard anything, have you felt anything, every thing a possible threat, fully exposed to the enemy. They drove their own people crazy and generated real physical harm as a result.
Pay is what you are willing to accept and basically the employer saying screw you. If they can badger you to take less they will and women are more easy for corporations to badger and they get paid less. This not collectively but individually and on average. Are they women who get paid more, yes but they are tougher, more individually minded and more willing to stick up for themselves and in the minority. So employers want more women because they are easier to push around and manipulate than men on average and men can become much more aggressive if pushed to far. Genes, you don't mother the output and well, it dies and does not produce more, on average. The rearing and supporting relationship consensus is exactly what they exploit. The attack on bitcoin exchanges are getting far more organised, now beyond simply organised crime, now major security contracts and even governments are jumping in to take down, pretty much legally unprotected bitcoin exchanges. If you steal real currency from those exchanges a real crime, for hacking their computer systems a real time, for stealing bitcoin, not so much, how do you steal imaginary money, you sort of don't really (perhaps copyright and trade mark infringement). Sort of like wanting someone to be prosecuted for stealing monopoly money, the board game that is.
