...you'd never be able to take a pee break.
That's all they are good for. The one thing I don't like about watching shows like the "Sopranos" is that it's a solid hour of TV without any commercials. I have to remember to use the bathroom before the show starts or I might miss something.
I want to see the makers of GTA counter-sue the parents of these dumbass kids. Hold THEM responsible for not doing their job in raising their children. As a parent, it's THEIR responsibility to make sure the kids aren't out doing something stupid. That's what being a parent is about. If they can't handle the responsibility of teaching the kids the difference between right and wrong, throw them (and the kids) in jail.
Actually, gun makers are constantly being sued for accidential (and non-accidential) shootings. It's not their fault either. Just because a PERSON chooses to use the product in an irresponsible manner doesn't make the producer of that product responsible.
Same thing with the game makers. It's not their fault some dumbass kid decides to mimic what he sees in a make-believe game.
RIAA doesn't own any copyrights, the artists and record labels own the copyrights. RIAA is a trade group for the music industry and it's purpose is to represent and defend the interests of it's members. While I don't agree with their tactics, they have the right to enforce the copyright holdings of it's member companies. This is why RIAA is fronting this entire lawsuit as opposed to each individual record label filing it's own law suit.
True, most artists now days are their own publishers. Back in the early days, publishing companies were (and many still are) large companies. All of the major record labels have their own publishing houses and these are definately not just one or two people. It wasn't until artists figured out that the publishing companies were cheating them out of royalty payments that many of them started to publish their own music.
Any artist signed to a major record label does have the right to start their own publishing company to ensure they are paid due royalties, but they are often required to work in conjunction with the labels in-house publishing firm, which takes a bite out of the royalties.
Also, it seems that the only people that I ever hear complaining about the whole issue of song sharing are artists that are already well established and have money. Yes, since they're famous they have a bigger voice than many, but I've never heard any complaints from any of the independant artists I work with. Most just want to get the music out there to the world in any way possible.
Sure, of course they're gonna speak out against it. Only makes sense. Funny thing is, I don't hear them speaking out against the record labels and publishing companies who screw them out of even more money.
I know how you feel. I get crap all the time from people saying "Switch to Linux." "Linux works better." "Blah, blah, blah Linux..."
I'm sure Linux works fine, but until the huge variety of applications become available like all the stuff they have for Windows, I'm sticking with it, despite an occasional headache. Like you, I also have a job to do and don't have the time or money to learn start using a whole new operation.
I think they were simply trying to cash in on the hype about them getting married. As if we don't hear enough about their stupid relationship, we're supposed to go see them in a movie together? Not a chance in hell Ben-Lo!
Hollywood is looking for any kind of lame excuse for it's crappy movies rather than admit that they are tapped out for new ideas. How many new movies lately are truly original? Most are re-makes, sequels, or cheap crappy knock offs of other movies.
...for the moment. MS needs to stop worrying about innovation and concentrate on making a product that works better. Once they accomplish that, then start innovating again.
Same can be said for cell phone companies. They come up with all these stupid and useless features like camera phones, but you still can't get a signal half the time. I bought a cell phone for making phone calls, not taking pictures. Sheeeze!
You may be right. After he loses his company to Microsoft's Trademark suit, (and yes, he'll probably lose. No Seattle judge or jury is going to rule against Uncle Billy.) he'll go after them for unfair business practices.
Yes, you can buy the full version. You can find it on MS's website, or even retailers like Office Depot.

Tell your boss to sell back some of the stations to independant broadcasters.
I remember back when radio stations each had their own identity and that made them unique. Because the ownership was local and the DJs were local, the programming was more oriented to the city it was in. Now, I can listen to any one of the stations in my city and hear the same thing on each of them. Even traveling from city to city, I swear I'm still listening to the same stupid station. And you never get to hear any local artists anymore. For that, you have to listen to College or Public radio. But then, you have to deal with the crappy DJs who stammer and stutter when speaking and have absolutely no personality.
I saw this coming. In the late 90's I worked for a company called Entercom, which ownes several radio stations in the Seattle area, as well as several other markets. While there, I was always hearing about how the company was constantly purchasing more and more radio stations, and getting involved in bidding wars with companies like Viacom and Clear Channel over the most popular stations. I saw Entercom nearly double in size during my time with the company, but nothing compared to Clear Channel.
A lot of good comparisons. The only difference between Bush and Hitler is that Hitler was smarter than Bush. Hitler controlled his government, while Bush is just a puppet.

You bet they do. I use ZoneAlarm's firewall and it caught that little bugger trying to sneak into my computer. HA HA MSBlast, you didn't get me sucka!
