...the most well-known example of pure science known to man is electricity. Why bother with something that can make frog's legs kick ?

Experience has shown that "pure" research often leads to applications the researchers never imagined.

Cutting research to areas with "immediate applicability" is quite in fashion in some circles. (The same circles, coincidentally, that do not usually do something for the benefit of mankind. Corporates come to mind.)

People living in direct vincinity to wind farms in Germany (a country under siege by an inept social democrat/econazi govt.) complain about the flickering shadows the propellers cast into their houses.
Of course it's cool to see them when driving/walking by, to listen to the noise they make - but imagine having to live close to one of them.

Wind also tends to be unreliable and changing. Would you agree to only use electricity if the wind blew between 3 and 5 Beaufort only ?

Finally - anybody needing to fight wars to grab enough energy for domestic use seems to use way too much of it...

But sooner or later, spending your life coding is the last thing on your mind.
"Ah ! There's a new language to learn out there !" you say. And you find, one day, that it is hard to learn.

    Aaah ! A troll !

Here's some food for ya !

How to explain FVWM to a troll ?

In the good old days, when THE distribution was something you downloaded as floppy images, when a 386 DX with 16 megs was considered a nice machine (with your file server being a 486/33), when you had a Minix FS and hex-edited your boot device on your boot floppy, in those old days you did not want a *huge* window manager.

But after downloading the slackware X series of floppy disks, you wanted SOME kind of WM.

And yes, it was cosidered a bonus to open an xterm without the system starting to swap.

Can your stomach take more, little troll ?

    Still - a milestone !

  10. Prosecution shows lack of hosting skills on Shadowbane Servers Hacked, Chaos Ensues · · Score: 1
So - what will happen in this case ?
Good money lost, nobody gains anything.

History shows that in other systems, like the long-dead Habitat or the - almost-as-dead - WorldsAway (http://www.vzones.com), users would always find and abuse security holes.

It was considered part of the game, the players hurt by the actions were given their old status back and noone was ever prosecuted.

This makes the hackers look bad. Prosecution makes them heroes instead.
