This actually means that my government is investing in a job for me! I will have a chance to help with customizing, translating, or even developing the software that the government is going to use.
This is great, as a brazilian free software developer I have to say that we couldn't have donne better. Now we can create more jobs for our people instead of giving away thousands of dollars in license fees to overseas companies!!!
Maybe if Nasa and others involved decided to follow something closer to the free software development model we could have lots of people contributing to the software.
That would mean that bugs, like the metric system one, would be quickly found out and fixed.
And of course all the different mars projects could share knoledge and experience.
I have no idea how complex these systems are, and if this would be feasible at all, but i think that there are a lot of competent people out there that could contribute with Nasa, if only it would let them.
Hi, has anyone here actually worked in a Paneris project and could share his/hers experience? I am thinking of doing something similar in Brazil and would like to see what people tought. tks
I've seen it, it's Emacs. He only uses X to play FreeCiv (really)
i am. just because it's free software doesn't mean nobody is paying for it. it's free as in freedom. not as in free beer.
