i use gnome 2.4 as my primary desktop, everyday, and I agree with all of your points. in fact, Ive disabled nautilus
completely (wow, memory usage plummeted) so it no longer draws my desktop. I have one bar across the top with my apps and I use konqueror as my file manager (which roks the house). I tried ROX, and its FAST, but lacking features. Drop nautilus like a hot potato and Gnome aint too bad.
i use mandrake on my laptop, but there are rumours that mandrake 9.2 will destroy an LG cd drive. not so safe !!

it only needs a battery for the light meter and if you
shoot enough, you know what settings you need anyway
if these things dont need 50lbs in batteries I might consider it.

much plastic we were creating, and how many trees
were being clear cut, even if recycling costs MORE than cutting those trees. Because there are benefits other than cost factor.
