  1. Did I broke something? on The End of Mathematical Proofs by Humans? · · Score: 1

Whoaa! On Monday I was given an assignment to code a program that will prove a simple theorem from first order predicate calculus. I coded in in python on Tuesday in about an hour. The code isn't fast, but nevertheless works. On Wednesday The Economist writes about all the maths falling apart because of me?

You gave a flamebait. Remember that Poland used to be ruled by totalitary system. Polish Security Service was similar to such services in Saddam's Iraq (just an example). It fought against democracy and basic civil laws. It's daily routine included tortures, kidnapping innocent family members etc. It just doesn't sound like James Bond movie to me.

I used to live in the boarding school. My room was full of geeks and their linux or bsd machines, mostly text-mode only, one of them as a DNS. The rest of the crowd was using Win+IE served by crappy DNS provided by ISP.

People knew, that we knew everything about computers, so whenever sth (DNS for example, DHCP, which we used to ignore too etc.) broke, they would come to us and complain.

I live in Poland, about 10 hours far from Estonia. Now I know, where to emigrate, when my government finally goes to hell with the rest of the country, or at least tries to legislate something similar to DMCA.

I feel a kind of sad, when I see similar opportunities wasted here in Poland, where Internet access is still a luxury due to TP S.A. - national telecommunication monopoly.

At least once both Estonia and Poland are in the EU emigrating won't be that hard... ;)
