> We need a huge shift in how we create and manage money. We need to drastically shrink the parasitic financial sector, wipe out the loans that represent most of our money supply. And replace the money created with credit cards and home loans
Indeed.
What's funny is that there _already_ are solutions to this problem in other sectors, **thousands** of years ago, that we blindly ignore the wisdom off, all in the name of greed.
Ask any farmer if they constantly have their land produce or if they allow it lay fallow one year so it can regenerate.
$10/month -- a lot of people will pass on that. Quite a few friends will NEVER support Adobe ever again now that they want a perptual $10/month for Photoshop CC.
Let me know when websites have *good* tactile feedback utilizing the momentum of widgets.
A native app should basically be a "offline cache" for when you _don't_ have internet access.
The plus side, I don't have to worry about a vendor "pseudo" forcing me to up grade my OS just because they don't support some OS 2 versions ago when they've been supporting it for the last 4 or 5 versions.
> It's the reason Jews were villainized as greedy schemers:
It is actually worse then that. Amongst each other Jews were _commanded_ to have loans interest free, but they could charge Gentiles interest.
i.e. Leviticus 25:35 and Deuteronomy 15:8, 23:20 Jews are to lend a fellow Jew money for free.
So if a brother believes the same as you, you treat him with kindness.
If he believes differently, you're allowed to screw him over financially ??
That's not really showing compassion for your brother.
If the Torah wasn't so hypocritical then maybe it would be looked upon better.
> bullshit WOD propaganda like the "gateway drug" theory.
I've pointed this out in the past. Those in authority always "scapegoat" some inanimate object they are afraid of:
* Movies
* Jazz
* Rock-n-Roll
* Heavy Metal
* DnD
* Computer Games
* marijuana - How America lost the war on drugs
Indeed.
The problem of the 20th century was production,
The problem of the 21st century is distribution.
> anechoic chamber ... The near absolute silence drives some people nuts,
Those things definitely are "weird" -- in a good way :-)

Jordan Mechner in this "How I applied my life to making games" says "Burnout can be a good thing. It allows your creativity to recharge".
> with government fiat currency, given directly to the people.
Fiat currency is exactly part of the problem, not the solution.
**Every** fiat currency has failed. Why do you think "this" time will be any different??

The 2 biggest problems with the financial sector is:
* Usury
* No debt forgiveness every X years, where X is 50 or 100 years, etc.
Wipe out usury and we'll be making a step towards a stable economy, not magically pulling money out of our asses that can never be repaid.
> rare undocumented unsupported hack
Switching video modes **mid-scan line** is NOT some "rare" undocumented unsupported hack.
It is about achieving 100% cycle accurate emulation.
AppleWin only *this* year correctly emulates the video hardware
> @ 60 Hz.
While this is great step in the right direction it is still rubbish.
The sweet spot is between 96 Hz and 120 Hz for flicker free and head-ache free displays.
Once you gamed on a 120 .. 144 Hz monitor there is no going back to crappy 60 Hz.
The better long term solution is:
* open source software
* Creative Commons License
You can't pirate what you are legally allowed to share. :-)
Indeed, ANY language feature can be abused.
Let's abuse whitespace! O_o
Since /. formatting for code is SO fucked up that I can't even paste the source code, here's a link to it ..

Damit, should be:
Say NO to software renting, aka price gouging.
Agreed.
$20/year would get a LOT of people on board.
$10/month -- a lot of people will pass on that. Quite a few friends will NEVER support Adobe ever again now that they want a perptual $10/month for Photoshop CC.
Say NO to software rendering
Interesting details ! Thanks for the info. about Tolkien's view on paperback and a bit of the context.
Only on /. (or reddit) can you get down-voted for pointing out the inconvenient facts
/sarcasm ...
Gee, if only some one would invent a device to do repetitive work.
It would follow a set of what I'll call instructions.
And instead of hard-coding them, it would be programmable, so that it is more flexible.
I even have a name for it! A computer, because it "computes" the math along the way it needs.
Nah, that will never sell.
Holy crap, there are a LOT of complaints about Verizon ...
... for your fuckups and lack of revenues?
Gee, here's an idea .. about you stop with the crappy customer service .. so you know, you actually can *acquire* customers for the long term.
The *only* reason I run FF anymore is because of YouTube downloader.
Chrome is just faster, less of a memory pig, and PDF + Flash + mpeg4 just work out of the box.
With the excellent extension Tab Outliner I'm all set.

Only Cowards Censor.
Ignoring the truth doesn't make it go away.
You forgot the most *important* thing about a smartphone:
* Portability
A low-res picture is better then no picture at all.
Sure, I'd love to be able to lug around a DSLR all day but that is impractical for most people.
We have 120 Hz .. 144 Hz monitors now, with 1 ms response times...
While the PQ (picture quality) of CRTs are great, they don't match the True Power On Black == Power off Black of OLED.
