It's a difference in being audiophile (wanting high quality material and equipment) and being an idiot paying for things you don't notice or provide no benefit or difference.
And then we have the preference issue as far as how you actually want things to sound.
Just as someone may prefer a more tasty beer over a less tasteful one.
Are there any digital cables (or rather technologies/protocols) which transmits the data "raw" and in real-time with no checksum or possibility of having a corrupted part sent again?
I assume there are but I also assume some may have those features so I may just aswell ask..
And also how does a CD-player reacts to errors? If it can't fix the error by error correction does it re-read/stop/... or does it just end up with some other crap and play that or remain silent?
Because while I would like to be able to say that it doesn't matter what quality of a spdif-type or HDMI-cable people use or is worth to pay 3000 $ for a CD-player I don't want to make claims unless I _KNOW_ it's a fact. I just don't want to pretend like I know or come with my own ground less "truths." I hate people who does.
Personally as long as the CD-player can read the CD I assume there's no fucking difference at all if you use a digital interconnect, and if it fails I assume some CD-players may fail easier than others, but most likely the cheaper ones are better since they may have used computer range equipment. I doubt the error correction ability differ between them.
When it comes to the cable if data is sent raw and un-corrected I assume faults can happen if the cable is totally wrong, but if it's bad enough I assume that would happen so often you would notice and if you don't there's probably no problem.
But actual knowledge instead of "reasoning" would be nice.
It's not the first time HIFI-people make fools of themselves. And everyone who's that ignorant against criticism suck and shouldn't have the right to say something in the first place. Time consumers.
True, over here in Sweden the few people up north complain that they get so little and that people don't want to support their living since they are so few and they are so many down south. Like "why do they have to live there?"
But if you look at production values than north winds hands down thanks to a hell of a lot of forrests, mining and water power.
Which they of course are taxed for to pay for the power down south which most likely produce way less value / indivudual(s landunit.)
Now I assume one could argue you only need to companies there and not people actually living there...
So what? You don't think the market forces can handle it?
Living in a rural area => more expensive => less chance that someone want to live there if they can't earn enough from creating food (if that's their employment) => demands for more money for food or starvation => more money for food => more income => able to afford living there (or everyone starve.)
military organizations? Of course I meant criminal organizations.
Speaking of people in Afghanistan that's another issue. Sure if tens-hundreds of thousands of people walked over we would have an issue.
But in that case I assume most people would become much more nationalistic than they are now after more than 200 years with no wars.
We had compulsory national service but just ended it / will end it in current time, I however haven't done it but almost all people of my age (born 1979) has.
If I actually felt threatened by an invader I would however want to get a gun myself to.. soo.
I know it has been said the same about the US. That it would be a bitch to take it over because more or less everyone got a gun / there are plenty / easy access, so good luck trying to beat those quarter billion people with guns in their hands:D
Fit for Military Service: 3,336,983 [2008] Active Military Personnel: 34,000 [2008] Active Military Reserve: 262,000 [2008] Active Paramilitary Units: 38,650 [2008]
Total Land-Based Weapons: 540 Total Aircraft: 744 [2003] Helicopters: 150 [2003] Total Navy Ships: 77
Good luck with that.
Sure we've lowered military budget and defenses since the end of the Soviet union but it would still be a bitch for them to actually take over anything.
The current government also added 20,000 more police men/women.
I would agree upon that we should use the police and/or military to end all military organizations asap instead of only accusing individuals and let the organizations roam on. But if we did it's not like they would have plenty to push back with.
It gives him a connection to Sweden. But Aftonbladets "Utgivningsbevis" would be given to Aftonbladet and the one at the top of the responsibility chain would be the legally responsible publisher of Aftonbaldet. So I don't think that alone would help Wikileaks. It would help him say whatever he wanted though, as long as Aftonbladet decided to publish it.
Yeah, I wanted to ask my grandmother on mothers side (weird stupid borked English language) about some memories from when they where young, though maybe I asked mostly about the gandfather. Anyway it never ended with me actually asking her but she rather wrote some stuff down. It was some but not all of course.. One of my grandfathers sisters is still alive so she could eventually give some more details, but who knows for how long. Both parents on my mothers side are dead.
On the other side I guess it doesn't really matter what happened in dead peoples lives, sadly.
I've talked some with my dad but I was younger then, didn't meet him as much as I should had done the last 10 years and since he died of in Alzheimers last November there won't be any more stories of his youth either.
My idea from the beginning was to let the laptop record the conversation to. Less work and everything gets caught.
In an unrelated event, but maybe something I share with many fellow Slashdotters, I sometimes wonder how life will become in a not too distant future. I'm 31, mom is 66, I've got a sister. Dad, both grantparents on my mothers side and grandfather on my fathers side are dead. His mother is above 85 I think so she will most likely not stay for long. I've got no friends, don't work, has never had a girlfriend. So I do wonder how empty life will be once the family is gone. Sure it usually end up being more lonely for everyone, but most often at 70+ or something such? And still with some children and such which may eventually visit or call you atleast sometime.
Should had meet my father more as said, but I knew that already back then, but it's hard to decide and get going and then there is the next day, and the next,..
Would suck if the filming reminded of death though. Even though it can be good to think about it sometimes so you don't end up just wasting your time.
Also I assume eventually the extensions to the single player game will bring more to multiplayer game to? Even though one can play all three races now. Or?
And if they changed much at all lots of people would had complained.
Doubt they have made bnet worse either but then I haven't played it. I can understand if it matches players poorly atm.
I was almost ready to buy Starcraft 2, but now I see this amazing game!
What has been stopping you so far? Sounds like you have a machine capable of running it and in that case I don't see the problem if it's anything you could see yourself playing.
The game was dirt cheap, I was expecting more, price was 389 SEK here in Sweden.
Personally I actually get to play it at decent quality I would have to invest in a Intel P55 + Core i5 760/870 or X58 + i7 930 (preferably with one UDMA133-controller to) with GTX 460 1 GB graphics system. And well, that will cost a lot more =P
The game is a piss in the ocean and I wouldn't hesitate for 0.5 second. I would rather had spent more money in it, spending 30 times more on the computer than the game I buy the computer for seem kinda weird. Would rather had given Blizzard more money.
I don't know much about Portugal, but perhaps one of the reasons is that it tends to embark on projects like you mentioned that sound good but don't make economic sense?
Doubt it. This is an issue you can see in general comparing north vs south Europe. I don't remember the word for it but the southern countries is more about living / spending your time outside of work whereas for many in the north your life is about working. I assume the weather conditions, need to take siestas in the middle of the day because it's too warm to do anything useful anyway and so on may be some reasons for it.
I think one reason economic is better up north is because people simply work harder.
May be wrong though. Also tourism is a bigger industry in those southern countries.
I checked both from CIA world fact book earlier but those wasn't the numbers they had:
Portugal: 76.9% of GDP (2009 est.) 66.3% of GDP (2008 est.)
USA: 52.9% of GDP (2009 est.) 39.7% of GDP (2008 est.)
Though: "note: data cover only what the United States Treasury denotes as "Debt Held by the Public," which includes all debt instruments issued by the Treasury that are owned by non-US Government entities. The data include Treasury debt held by foreign entities. The data exclude debt issued by individual US states, as well as intra-governmental debt. Intra-governmental debt consists of Treasury borrowings from surpluses in the trusts for Federal Social Security, Federal Employees, Hospital Insurance (Medicare and Medicaid), Disability and Unemployment, and several other smaller trusts. If data for Intra-government debt were added, "Gross Debt" would increase by about 30% of GDP."
So maybe for comparisons your 88% is more correct anyway. What do I know. IANAE.

Risperidone was first sold in 1993-1994, it's been killing your elders ever since!
But they're not behaving like I want them to! Isn't there a drug for that?
The ladies aren't either.
That's why God invented GHB, Rohypnol, Alcohol, MDMA, Amfetamines, ...
Or porn!
I won't talk against you because I know nothing on the subject.
Searched Swedish fass regarding ritalin thought and yes, it was a stimulant.
Though I wonder if it's not the higher attention level which make them feel less bored and make them want to do something else.
Like "Married with children": "Shiny shiny shoes!"
If you find something to focus your mind on maybe you become less restless than if it can't catch your attention and you feel bored, as said =p
(So opposite of getting calmer because you lose focus on all the things around, but rather increase focus to keep attention.)
military organizations? Of course I meant criminal organizations.

destroying the credibility of himself and Wikileaks.
Funny how you said that considering the credibility of a evening paper such as Aftonbladet.
Whatever sell is on for them.
Seriously, how many different versions will the fanbois pay money for?
12 aug 2010: Video Quality Matters Less If You Enjoy the Show
So yeah... Clearly Star Wars benefits by a huge amount of getting better sound and video quality.
