Wasn't it 299 or 399 + shipping (or including australian shipping, cost 48 aud or something for shipping to Sweden in any case, above those 299 or 399. Also I don't remember the extra features in pro but I would had paid 100 more to get them (GPS among other things, right?))
I don't think 400 dollar is that cheap, with shipping and Swedish VAT it will become a quite normal price for a decent phone over here, not at all unreasonable.
Cheaper than a phone and 24 months subscription cost for a huge volume subscription? Yes, but not very cheap for the hardware in question.
With jail time up to 6 months or 2 years depending on how serious it is.
The wikipedia entry do mention that you can't be accused for it if the forgery is so lame that no-one would believe it to be true though, so I wonder if typing Donald Duck or something such would be safe?
Weird remark since an "electronical contract" so to speak will accept any submissions.
Both for this reason and because it's always risky to be the first one to buy a thing in case it sucks. It's better to let someone else try it out for you first:)
A week ago I saw an MSI wind or something similar sold on philippine ebay including OS X with various expensive apps (toast among others) and Adobe CS 4 if you wanted it for regular netbook price (15.000 of whatever currency they had.)
Not completely on topic or related but I was amazed how the ad was allowed on ebay.
This is why you always give a fake address when asked unless it's a (reputable!) company where you're actually paying for something at the time or if it's a (reputable!) company which is actually going to send you some physical object.
I didn't even read that they was the same machine, missed that.
Anyhow didn't Vista (?) do something weird when it came to audio and network performance? Like crippled the later to get better audio performance or something like that?
I assume you may get better network performance of a supported network card in Solaris than in Vista... though maybe not twice as fast.
All I know is that back in the days I had bought a cheap 10 mbps NIC based on a realtek chip of whatever brand, but back then I think I had to use some ne2000 drivers in Linux since the realtek chip happened to be compatible and it was slow.
If I remember correctly our D-Link (DTX?) 530 or something cards also messed up and gave less performance than 3com uhm, 509 or 903 or whatever it may have been called for instance.
Neither of these cards may have been used in Windows while I noticed it but anyway.
I still don't think that "network performance between various OSes on various machines with various network cards gives varying performance!" is front page news. Seems like Slashdot thought different though.
What's the next news? That all 20x DVD-burners don't complete a disc at the same time and with the same quality?
Fact: Plenty of OSes for regular x86s is reasonable stable, even Windows is.
Fact 2: Plenty of OS X hacks run just as stable as a real mac.
Fact 3: I have a real mac and Safari still runs like shit.
Last Leopard upgrade didn't booted on some Macbook Pros because they didn't had the latest firmware didn't it?
Yeah, if you buy unsupported hardware it won't work, big deal? That don't make them more unstable, just not supported.
Yeah, regarding other software most of it exist because Apple bought it, killed the Windows version and improved the mac version to make mac exclusive titles.
Some of them are huge titles among professionals and some could probably become somewhat used among more normal users to, so things like final cut, logic, aperture and so on would probably still be able to hold Apple over the surface even if things went really bad for them with the loss of Steve.
I didn't said they would earn more money from it, just be bigger in the computing industry (and therefor more likely to succeed in one area even if the rest would fall.)
If Apple just want to get big among costumers all they need to do is to start selling the OS and applications for any computer.
Personally I wouldn't buy anything of their hardware with the iPhone and iMac being the least unlikely.
To sell software doesn't cost much so I doubt they would have a hard time surviving no matter what would happen. Even if people would start to prefer things like Linux over OS X they could still sell their other software for other OSes.
... maybe add "a free Linux installation", which would be arguable I assume since one would still pay for the work of bundling software I'd assume but instead of "omg how cheap, this computer is just so cheap because they haven't included Windows" people will read "ok, cool, I got this for free and didn't had to pay for windows!"
Or just get some "Free Linux operating system inside!" stickers explaining that the machine can't run normal Windows software, or explain that it may be able to run some thru Wine but that it won't be supported.
To save cost on this machine it ships without Windows. Instead it contains customized Linux installation suitable for most peoples everyday usage. However, if you really need any software especially made for Windows you can still buy or install a copy you already own.
Eventually if they could offer an option to acquire a valid OEM license, I have no idea if Microsoft would accept those being shipped to people who don't like the free alternative but I guess it would be good for Microsoft in any case.
Obviously you was moderated flamebait because the people with mod points are retards (here I go to join you!:D)
But yes, while one could argue she should know that she wanted Windows or just go out and buy it I do understand how she ran into troubles.
The good thing is that the more people has problem with the software requirements the bigger the chance they get more reasonable.
I've didn't knew people bought Linux machines by accident though, except netbooks. Maybe one should make it really clear they come with Linux, not Windows, and won't run normal Windows apps unless one install Windows instead.
It would really suck if the environment where you grow your food would get messed up somehow while traveling. Like going to mars and all your larvae dies after two months..
I don't get the EAA stuff either, I assume they mean grams per 100 gram? Not compared to the amount of protein? No care about amino acid profile?
Wasn't it 299 or 399 + shipping (or including australian shipping, cost 48 aud or something for shipping to Sweden in any case, above those 299 or 399. Also I don't remember the extra features in pro but I would had paid 100 more to get them (GPS among other things, right?))
Oh, it was AUD? I never even thought about it.
(399 + 48) * Australian dollar = 2 438.45127 Swedish kronor
(2 438 * 1.25) + 125 = 3 172.5
That puts it on pair with Sony-Ericsson c902 and Nokia N82 and just below w902 and N95.

Uhm, Slashdot messes up URLs with UTF-8 in them? I knew they looked like shit but not that it would autocut them.
UrkundsfÃrfalskning pÃ¥ svenska wikipedia.
It's in Sweden:

Glad I held my purchase =P

Yeah, commit a crime so you don't get fooled!
I didn't even read that they was the same machine, missed that.

The question is how this made the front page? Yes, speed varies over NICs, drivers and operating systems. Big deal?
What network cards and if it's generic drivers or not and so on will affect this a lot.
from the nothing to see here move along dept.?
Bla bla, yada yada.

Nah, just when he's sore and gets blood on the paper.
Yeah, I wanted to type renewable but my brain messed up and I pressed submit 1/2 a second before I noticed my error.
It won't make solar power better, it's still just electronic cars being better than gasoline ones.
I will still not give any DVDA shots :/
You spinn me 'round 'round baby 'round 'round like a record ...

oprah
Not very reusable though is she?
Though I assume one could start to use the viewers instead.
Because people really want to use Kopete under KDE instead of Pidgin (bahahahaha)
Yes?
