    I obviously meant the space station and the display server of which only the former is dead whereas the later seem to have got some trouble getting lift under it's wings / lift off so to say.

    You obviously got that and I had no idea mir meant peace but the idea was never to say peace was dead :)

    Checking Wikipedia: Mir was only up for 15 years? So young, so young! :(

    Possibly their own?

    One advantage of Solaris over Linux/GNU is that things don't break/stop existing over time.

    Linus want the same for the Linux kernel afaik but the rest may not be as reliable.

    Back in the 90s it wasn't uncommon that my IRC client said something like nuke USA kill the president terrorist bomb .. so on so on.

    I still wonder whatever that have affected my possibility of getting into the US =P

    Back then of course there was talk about Echelon. Did it really exist? If so it was fun to type stuff like that.

    I guess now we know it existed =P

    Except that the Japanese watches aren't the later ones.

    I don't know why they was blended together. The need for a separate device for telling the time has likely passed, "cool engineering" may still have some place.

    Sure the Japanese watches have more than 1 day of battery life in them.

    The interest in bringing up billions of them if no-one want to eat them will become smaller though.

    We don't have to kill off everything in nature we can't benefit from.
