Well, mine is probably worse since I've been off for too long (studies taking too much time). And besides, I'm only worth something like 18k so far (my account currently showing 14k;-)).
In 3 months I'll (hopefully) finish my studies, so I'll start playing intensively again... I'll try to remember you until then...:)

For those who don't know it's a very old game which comes from China and is quite popular in Asia (well, at least Japan and Korea, I'm not sure about the rest).
It's a game with black and white stones on a 19x19 board. And the aim is to make the largest territory. Seems pretty dull? Well... It's the most fascinating game I've ever come across!!! The rules are really simple and yet there are so many possibilities, strategies, etc...
Besides its interest as a game, I've found this game interesting in two other ways: it has some philosophical aspects (being too greedy is bad, etc...) and also playing it with someone shows quite a bit of the personality of your opponent. Hmmm and the "Go" community is also great (so many friendly people to teach you the game, etc...).
One last thing... If you like anime, I highly recommend "Hikaru no Go" (I got to know the game and started to play it just because of this anime).
For more information (and possibly play online), I recommend: KGS.
First, let me apologize for many of the other answers you received from (supposedly) other europeans...
I personally think you are absolutely right even though I only realized quite recently our system was broken too. Before several recent events (including software patents, of course) I thought (I guess I was quite naive) our european system was okay (not perfect, of course).
As to know if the american system is better than the european one, I guess I don't know enough about your american system to judge. But it *seems* from over here that, so far, you have more stupid laws than we do.
And one last thing: Yes, we (at least some of us) know that most Americans are not to blame for the bad laws you have...
Why do you say specifically "in computer hardware and software"?
Well, maybe it's worse with computer software and hardware, I don't really know. But do you actually believe all those ads you see on the TV?
I think people are so used to them being irrealistic and exagerated that they don't pay attention anymore. I especially think about all those cleaning products "which clean [insert_here_whatever_that_product_is_for] perfectly in one pass" but I guess it's true with almost any kind of product...
well thanks for all the info (to you and all the others who answered) but well... I hope it'll be usefull to somebody else since I already knew that. The only thing I didn't know is that FLAC is lossless (yes it's written in the orginial post but well... seems like I read too quickly;-)).

Well... I, for one, switched from Windows to Debian and I'm very happy with it... :)

I wonder how FLAC compares to other compression methods (namely mp3 and ogg) in terms of quality and size... Is there a 'neutral' test somewhere?
