"Indian virus writers are writing virues to increase call volumes so more companies will outsource their anwering centers to India"

You know... I work for NAV (Norton AntiVirus) tech-support. And I get that joke probally 3 times a day. Here, it's funny, because it is a joke. On the phone it's funny too, because the people actually believe it. Took me 30 minutes to convince a customer that we didn't write the virus that broke her computer...

Unless you count NAV as a virus. I know I do

Tons of Stream people. Right now I work at ECE in oregon, who took over alot of Stream's contracts including Symantec (that's what I support now). And I could really see pretty much everything that article was talking about going on here. Hell, I watched as alot of the less capable people in my Traning class were thrown to the phones and get eatten alive by customers who wanted answers. I watch as techs who get through 40 calls a day at 5 minutes a call (expected time is 20) get praised when you know all the techs are doing is giving the customers a place to look for the problem and telling the customers to fix it themselves. I can't count how many times I get a customer say "I wish I had gotten you the first time I call". ECE has a quaterly Biz. report they make all the employies watch that is nothing but a joke. A really sick sad joke (89% turnover rate at the ECE facility in Tampa). But truly the worst thing about this is the fact that ECE earns $20 per Symantec Contact they take. And then they turn around and charge the consumer another 29.95 for support. So everytime I bill the person that calls for support ECE makes half my days pay. I imagine this is alot like what hell will be.

Actually I did. To Peter Defazio who is my House District Rep, and to Ron Wyden concering privacy and other issues like the Consumer Broadband and Digital Television Promotion Act when it was around and the Patroit act. I live in the 15th City to seek reform of the Patroit act ( http://www.registerguard.com/news/2002/11/26/1a.pa triotact.1126.html ) and have always believed it is better to get involved with goverment and make sure that your rights are protected. Each time I have contacted my two reps (house and Senate) they have both replied warmly to the ideas and mentioned that that is how they citing their voting record. I am glad I live where I do in a place that values indivual rights, I am saddend to see it disapperaing natoinally though.

This Senator makes me proud to live in Oregon. I would love to see more people of his mindset elected in the next election. But anyways, what I hope comes of this bill even though it is unlikely to pass is more discussion and a general awareness of what all this government FUD is driving the people to do. I hope that this bill gets a lot of attention, and maybe wakes up the country from it's state of fear and warmongering. Chris Hedges had an excllent book about Nationalism, Fear, and all the troubles that this bill aims to stop. Also this bill does a lot to protect our liberty. I enjoined this link on Liberty so I figured may as well share http://www.isil.org/resources/introduction.html
