    From San Diego to Bangor ME (4330 km) and Nome to Key West (7250 km), everyone uses the same units of measure.

    Thus, what others would see as an international problem, we see as not a problem.

    While I completely agree with most of your last paragraph, the first paragraph and the last sentence of the 2nd paragraph grossly -- nay, stupendously -- underestimate how much capital equipment and energy is needed to perform heavy construction and large-scale excavation, mining, smelting/refining, forging and machining. For example, even on the Moon, 10 m^3 of ore is still 10 m^3 so you still need a big dump truck (eve if it's engine can be smaller).

    There is also the issue of mining the moon for things like iron and then doing manufacturing in space

    Which is Not Trivial: explosives, rock crushers, dump trucks the size of a small house, smelters, forges, machine shops, the fuel to operate it all, etc, etc, etc.

    Anyway, who makes spacecraft out of *iron*?

    It always comes back to "it's impossible", "can't be done" and so on, then someone does it in an unexpected way and the rest of the world stands there looking stupid.

    But it is impossible using current technology. Discover some new energy source that can be practically converted to high-thrust propulsion and we'll all cheer you.

    Guess what, I wrote a keylogger and send it to the dev team, every time when the game patches and installed, the thing will also install. Everytime we encounter a perpertual cheater will turn on the keylogger, colect all his infomation, and fight him back by loggin in to his facebook account and do shit.

    I don't know about how things are (not) done in South America, but in the US and Europe is highly illegal.

    Why do you say (i.e., what evidence do you have) that 90% of spam you receive is generated by Linux?

    Using the latest Firefox browser. XPSP3 with updates. Latest flash and a slightly out of date version of Adobe reader - 9 (but it doesn't matter which version you use because they never fully fix it and there's always an exploit out in the wild that hasn't been fixed!)

    How, then? Do you have FF set to automatically allow 3rd parties to install s/w? Or did it sneak in thru Flash or Acrobat Reader?

    (Flashblock should protect you against such attacks, since you must actively click on window areas to get each Flash script to run.

    Why? Ubuntu has a completely GUIfied software install and upgrade system. Point, click, drool and it's all done.

    Laser does not usurp kinetic energy of projectile.

    True, but it distorts the shape of the projectile, causing it to tumble and go off course.

    Anyway, who cares about bullets being shot at a ship?

    It's the missiles (both guided and "ballistic") that are packed with explosives and electronics that are really vulnerable to lasers.

    Anti-ship missiles are far better

    Except that ships have a fixed (and not very large) supply of missiles, but do have lots and lots of electricity for lasers.

    In reality, they disqualify anybody who might be qualified so that the jurors can be easily swayed.

    When I went through jury selection, I told the lawyers that the Reasonable Doubt is a very high burden for the prosecutor to overcome.

    You'd think that she (the prosecutor was a black woman) would have immediately dismissed me for such a pro-defense statement, but didn't happen.

    Oh, ok.

    But now I can see all of the workspaces by glancing down at the Panel. (Since I've set mine to Autohide [cleaner look, doncha know...], I just mouse on down.)

    GNOME 3 should have optimized for 16:9 and 16:10 monitors (which is what the vast majority of their current users have) instead of tablets (which the vast majority of their users do not have).

    They already hire reams of accountants and lawyers to minimize their taxes. Why not make things simpler by eliminating their income/CapGains taxes altogether?

    As it is, China and Japan are the ones buying Ramen for Grandma. What happens when they come knocking asking for their money back?

    Click the activities button or flick your mouse to the top left.

    That's not what you wrote in http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=2072172&cid=35739274:press the activities key (Windows/Super/Meta) and move your mouse to the right..

    One tiny word change makes all the difference in the world.

    Also, "Windows and mouse flick" means that you do both at the same time. "Windows then mouse flick" means one then the other.
