The studios used to generate hundreds of movies per year. Whereas now, an actor might be in 2 movies per year, 70 years ago, he'd be in 15 movies per year.
I can't see how such high volume could also engender high quality.
If you have windows use the blinds on the sunny side. Thermal load is a royal pain. Where I work it hit 27c inside even though it was -14c outside. The north side was running at about 21c.
Or put the datacenter in the basement. Not only do you not get thermal load, but the walls will naturally stay 18F year 'round.
Sortly after upgrading to the latest Ubuntu, my roomate was getting popups all over the place. Aparently he got some sort of java exploit through Azureus.
This is the job of parents really, whatever the government says.
I used to think that, and then I had kids. And then they grew old enough to start going to school and talking to their friends at recess, and going to friends houses.
While I have more control over my children than many parents seem to have, it still stuns me how little control we actually do have. As they grow older, what control we do have will dissipate.
Thus, while I wouldn't want violent VGs marked as porn, we do want/need some sort of effective rating system.
Wouldn't a live action doom be faster? Double shotgun in the blubber butt should cure them.
The damage caused by a plasic slug in the face is severe. Even a bean bag in the face, at the velocities caused by crowd-control guns, is too dangerous for P.E. class.
$120,000 per school to check retinas, or the kid could just say "You're not my Dad" when the stranger shows up.
I'd think that it's more likely that the non-custodial parent would try to pick the child up. But even that's pretty remote.
Still, the cheap and effective way to do it is to have each child (or carpool) assigned a number. So, if someone doesn't have your number, you don't get the kid.
Just like the only reason that AMD is ascending is because Intel fell on their faces with Itanium and Netburst.
Why do I say that? If, instead of pouring billions of US$ into Itanium all thru the 1990s, Intel had put a fraction of that money into what we now know as x86-64, it would have the dominamt instruction set, and AMD would still be playing catch-up, like it did had been doing for 15 years.
You know what? I'm not even going to debate you. I'm not going to tell you why you are wrong, not out of cowardice, or a weak case, or anything similar.
W might be be pushing us down the slide towards autocracy, or he might be doing the dirty work needed to keep us sleeping peaceful at night.
I don't know. So, please, tell me your considered interpretation of the facts.
P.S. - When I ask for thinking, and I get raving intellectual mush, I get really sarcastically mean.
I am from the American South. Thus, I grew up experiencing whites to have a certain set of accents and blacks to have another set accents. With a *high* degree of accuracy, I could pick out the highly, "middle" and poorly educated of both races.
So, it was a great shock to me when I got out into the Real World and had hundreds of hours of long-distance phonecons with people up North who had "white" accents, but turned out to be black.
You can imagine that I'm much more cautious about labeling someone "black" based upon their accent.
don't waste resources on making stuff better than it needs to be; nobody's going to notice
That is factually incorrect. It is long-established, common knowledge (except by you apparently) that 70 PERCENT OF THE COST OF SOFTWARE IS MAINTENANCE
When you've got a huge stack of work orders, and time pressure, most bosses won't say, "take your time and do it right, to make things easier 6 months or 2 years from now". Even if they mumble something appropriate, if, in your yearly Performance Appraisal Review, they score you as "below average" in completeing your tasks, what is that going to tell you? Speed up, even if the finished product is a bit spindly.
stupid, pointless, and destabilizing ABM systems, bunker-busting nukes, etc, etc.

While this makes a good rant, Congress forbade the development of B-B nukes.

What kind of comparison is that?
The Stupid Tech Journalist kind.
The problem is that he'd need somewhere offsite to backup the petabyte array.
Think of the petabyte array as near-line storage for the main array.
The 50TB of tapes per day going out to Iron Mountain will still be going out every day. "They" will just be doing a whole lot fewer tape recalls.
B-movies, a liberal myth.
This has got to be a troll.

It seems the Hollywood machinery today is all about squeezing blood out of turnips.
Hollywood has always only been about dead presidents.
It's all on where the emphasis lies, eh?
on my bigass American TV.
Sarcasm, right?

This Java exploit?
http://developers.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/
Was he running as root? If so, stupid him.
If not, the exploit would last only as long as his login session and should be easily findable the next time you log in.
Isn't it always a smart idea to turn your PC off before you reach your hands inside the case?
Yes, turn off your PC before opening the case.
A server, though, is not a PC. It's a set of rack (or cabinet) -mounted enclosures that are designed to be accessed while the power is on.

I predict she'll pop up again.
Better her than Martoof.
Claudia Black ... will add a lot to the franchise.
They killed her off, though, when she sacrificed herself to prevent the Auri from establishing a beach head in this Galaxy.
I'm afraid we may see Intel coming back in force,
Only if AMD stumbles.
Just like the only reason that AMD is ascending is because Intel fell on their faces with Itanium and Netburst.

Last time I tried putting a cat in a bag, I ended up getting my face clawed.
Spray Raid on it. When the beast passes out, put it in the bag.
Sweden and facshist minister of justice in the same sentence?
What happened to the We Are Wealthy Socialists Who Are Better Than You Cradle To Grave Nanny State?
Kinda like Canada, but with better looking women?
Your greybeard mainframe elders have been dealing with this problem for 50 years.

Of course, with all that data sitting in 12' of floor space, a little fire could do a whole lot of damage. Get off-site storage!!!

guided into the college majors due to external factors ... social pressure
Like when the guidance councilor told Malcolm Little that being a lawyer was "no realistic goal for a nigger"?
where Barbie says math is hard
But math is hard for most of us, especially if we don't study and study and study.
Accents.
Not necessarily.

Gag, spit.
The Z80 is obviously superior to a toy like the 6502.
