    Windows is appropriate in the same places that a Playstation 3 is, not for getting work done.
    Mathematics, electronic and other kinds of CAD. Linux isn't as advanced as windows in those areas. Don't mention blender and qcad, because they are not as good as their windows counterparts. There are good, specialized windows programs you can't find in linux.

    Before I installed kubuntu (thus reinstalling grub) it took from 2 to 3 minutes to get to the grub menu, then 1-2 mins. for windows 2000 to boot. Now I get to the menu in 10 secs, but windows still takes a long time to boot.

    Replacing also those with electrics is the way to go. Use electric motors, magnetic suspension, etc. Modular body panels can have their own microcontrollers also, so the car can reconfigure itself based on what you have mounted. You have the rear door in place, the rear door up/down button appears on the interface. The top is off, no sense showing the moonroof control. Etc etc.
    Most of the things you mention still have associated and custom made pieces, panels, etc. However, once the design is finished they can gather up and make a mass order like the guys who designed the Powerditto. Still, the price is way higher, and prototyping will be a bitch. This project needs a company to sponsor it and pay for these costs.

    I believe if you build your own car you have to have it tested for roadworthiness. Dunno about emissions.

    More like an ugly round box. It's not that bad but it's too round & futuristic for me. Like the new beetle on steroids.
    The article doesn't give me much confidence, it sounds like a guy who expects to design a car without much knowledge about the subject. Plus, open source CAD is a pain in the ass (I've tried it).

    I'm not a mathetician, but as, in general, any number divided by itself is one (eg 1/1=1, 1234/1234=1, 0.5/0.5=1, etc) it would seem far more sensible if zero divided by zero was also 1.
    If what you say is right then I can prove you that 1 = 2.

    I laughed to myself when reading this and then realized I have been browsing with adblock for months... You just get used to not seeing annoying stuff. I almost freaked out when I visited my paper's website with an ad that COVERED THE WHOLE SCREEN! Some product I already forgot about with animation and what-else, which then scrolled to a side... When reading articles, the right half of the page was full of annoying ads!

    Not that I download music these days (I really don't) but I'd expect them to prove how many songs I distributed so that I can pay them a fair price. And I'll know if they're lying, because I know what my torrent sharing ratio is
    If they have evidence you uploaded any copyrighted songs at all, you can either:
    a)Settle out of court (the usual), they don't have to demand the exact ammount you owe them. They can ask for $5000000 if they want to.
    b)Go to court. Spend a lot more in lawyers than you would in a generic out-of-court fee.

    Actually, I got pissed at nintendo because, with GBA, they removed the standard round power connector (now you have to buy one which goes into the battery compartment... only made by nintendo)-

    But how do you control multiple vehicles moving at supersonic speeds in 3 dimensional space? I realize that most fighter pilots have things like g-forces to deal with, but even without that, there's a lot to think about in terms of movement, relation of your plane to target/other planes/other incidental objects..
    I supose heavy AI, and you just give them a strategy or task to perform.

    If it's the latter, what separates the creation of a UK copyright from a US copyright? I'm under the impression there's no formal paperwork that needs to occur for copyright like there is a patent.
    I'm guessing it's like you said, but the US will allow you to bitch* about others copying your work for 95 years, while the UK won't give a crap after 50 years.

    If you crease the floppy, flatten it out, put it back in the case and run it, its unlikely that it would run properly.
    Actually, I once took the disk out, folded it, played frisbee with it, etc. and when I put it back in, it read most of the files correctly. Yet the little bitches lose data when you take perfectly good care of them.

    I supose so. I don't know what room temperature will do to it, but I know leaving it in the sun will cook it and make it give away a nasty smell (like what happened to the lard used to impermeabilize tents in fairs, and what happens if you touch those powerful halogen lamps with your fingers).
