In raid world data volume = storage volume. A raid system is not aware of the data that is on it's array. Rebuilding after a disk failure means you want to read every single bit on every working drive in the array, even if the filesystem is empty.
Perhaps esa isn't as media-oriented as one would expect from a space agency. I guess the tight budget (compared to nasa) makes esa more discrete in it's media-machine.
I've seen them like 12 years ago in "the house of the future" in Brussels, toghether with an induction cooker, 56K internet, a self-filling fridge and a house with domotica lighting, fully handled by a pc. Still I remember the tour-guide telling us the window-blurring was done using the same technology used for display panels on measuring equipment and calculators, lcd.
Seems that not everything is being developed at the same speed. Interesting to notice a project like 'living tomorrow' is more likely to show you a combination of living tomorrow, next week, year, decade,... .
If debian wants to dominate the desktop, my guess would be that it will cost it's great server reputation, thus dominating.. nothing at all. I like debian because it is a light yet powerfull distribution. I don't have to take more than one cd with me if I want to install a fully working.*-server in a non-internet site, something that never worked in my redhat(>6.2) days. It would be better to just use a debian system and create a good working desktop system based on debian (like knoppix did) and release it as a distribution different from debian. Debian maintainers could do this by themself, create a parrallel distro, but obviously they are not at all interested in desktop debian.
afaik steam is the gas-form of water, when the steam cools down it condensates to liquid water, but the bubbles in boiling water are water in gas form, not vaporized liquid water.
A lot of inet tools are v6 ready these days, and debian has v6 apt sources, and apt-get itself is v6 ready, but not all services are (squid wasn't when I had enough time to play v6).
It would be rather pathetic if this mission failed, considering that the US has proven to be quite good in shooting things at other things with very high precision.
Let's just call this a nice one for the world, humanity.
afaik, the only thing what happens using Atheros is that is bundles 2 channels.
If I would buy two accesspoints, place them on a different channel, stick 2 cards into my notebook and assign two well balanced subnets to my home network, speaking in terms of air waves I did exactly what Atheros did, just on a lower level.
This way I can transfer (multiple) data streams at double data rate without harming any rules what-so-ever, exept for my neighbours who have less channels to choose out;)
First of all, I do not agree with banning movies, I think it's to the individual to decide weither they go and watch a movie or not, but...
afaik banning movies is something that happens all the time, I can remember a movie made by several countries telling their own story about the 9/11 attacks, it was banned in several countries (i'm almost sure the us was one of them) because the gouvernment decided it was a political/religious incorrect movie, also here in.be the movie was only available in a select group of independent alternative theaters for the same reasons.
I don't see any difference between these facts, exept that the matrix reloaded is a famous movie in a great part of the world.
Just try and respect the fact that others may find it harmfull for there own religion/politics, as we might think the same way about theirs.

Don't forget we're talking about mars, not earth at sea level, pressure is also an important factor in determing the physical state of a material.
