Even if NASA suddenly wanted to adopt your plan to send people to Mars as unreturnable lemmings, they would never do it.
The key variable here is not human lives, its dollars spent. A one-way trip to Mars costs billions. Until a one-way trip costs an order of magnitude less than a round-trip, we can never leave humans on Mars no matter what country they are launched from. And this doesn't even begin to touch on the PR disaster one-way flights would create (at least here in the US).
The draw of getting a new battery is that it has a longer life than an older, well-used battery. Comparing a new battery to one that is a year old, you might get an extra half hour of life out of the new one.
Although you are somewhat right... the fanboys are a little too excited about this one.
dont question the macgyver. this is the same man who once picked an electronic lock with half-full wine glasses and a canary. you will accept the macgyver and you'll like it.
Right, but a hard drive is not something you can cheaply make smaller. If you open up the Xbox youll notice that that the hard drive appartaus takes up about one quarter of the space inside.
And its not like you can just opt to use a smaller hard drive. Why do you think iPods are so expensive (aside from general apple high prices)? They have small hard drives. Would you rather pay $200 for a small-sized Xbox Next or $500 for a small-sized Xbox Next with a small hard drive inside?
Yeah, TOTD switched me from 'hunt and peck' to touch typing in two weeks; and I had been using my own fast hunt and peck style for about 10 years so it shows how easy you'll learn from it.
Plus its more addictive than crystal meth, so really theres no downside here.
Now if only halo could teach me to cook...
The included apple bud headphones dont suck. In fact they're pretty good for bud style headphones. But let's face it, to get the best sound out of the ipod you need better headphones. I see plenty of people using the blindingly white buds and wonder why they havent bothered to think about better headphones. Ripped mp3's will never have quite the same sound as a real cd, but you can still ramp up your sound quality (and i dont want to hear some crap about how a higher bitrate is just as good as cd quality, no one wants to rip at 392 kHz).
With my gen 2 10 gig ipod i use a pair of Grado SR60 headphones. Probably the best set of phones you can use with out an amp for less then $100. I highly reccommend them for any portable player. You will never want to go back to anything made by Sony (very overrated in the headphone market IMHO). Theres no point in going with an expensive set of headphones since in the end you're listening to mp3's.
If you need buds like a crack addition for some reason then shell out the $330 for Entymotic ER-4P http://www.headphone.com/layout.php?topicID=13&sub TopicID=64&productID=0020100005 [headphone.com]. You'll never know they're buds. Of course you could probably buy groceries for a month with that money but who needs food when you have an ipod?

Your tire analogy isn't really appropriate here.

Buy "Typing of the Dead" on eBay. Its much more fun than Mavis Beacon and gives you more motivation to type faster (zombies >> school teachers).
I went from approximately 30 WPM hunt and peck to 60 WPM touch typing all thanks to Sega's little game.
I'm sure any one else who has used it will agree how quickly you learn to type properly. You'll be amazed at the results.
I, for one, welcome our new flamboyant singing nerd overlords.
holy jebus. that's one heck of an "in case of..." conversation.
are you the guy i saw at home depot buying crates of duct tape when they raised the terrorism alert to orange last week?

doubtful. land lines will always be more secure, even if they do become less popular in the future
