I do no agree that NOVELL NETWARE is a good product. Have you ever coded something for it ? Bleah. It always ABENDs. Not stable enough. Debuging is even tougher.I know that platform pretty well. How can such a platform survive if you cannot develop FAST something for it. No wonder it's going down...

I understand that your arguig was just an example. Give a better one, please.

I wasn't trolling! (If you think I was, then please name at least 2 compilers for that platform except WatcomC. See?)

You seem interested in a real use for VMWARE ?
I give you one: You can use it for testing the infection of various polimorph viruses, to get a chance at knowing what are they doing and what is the common point in these viruses. Some of them are pretty tough to "crack" up....
It's a great tool for this stuff. Get it?

    >> it was good to still know how to use strcpy with char *'s.

excuse me but are you talking about C or C++ ? It's not the same thing you know. For something to be trully C++ (cross platform) compatible you SHOULD NOT USE char* (if we are tlaking about C++ here). Instead use the STRING class wich comes with the C++.
I've seen enough code wich mixes the two (C / C++ coing style). Oh the horror!

I hope I didn't offend you (flames whatever...).

    For the novice
I think there is a free C++ book wich theaches the "thinking" of the whole C++ methodology and can give you a start in the field. Don't mix the 2 thinking models.... You can find the book here. Happy reading!

I guess I replied too late to get moderated anyway... :)

  11. Earth is not flat... on Microbes Survive Space Trip · · Score: 1

    Hi!
Sorry to disapoint you but the Bible do not state that the Earth is flat(at least to my knowledge). Instead there is a part (Job's book) where God is talking to the Satan and he (the Satan) says (Job 1:7) that he was wandering "about on earth" (let me translate it for you: around the earth.)
Leater on (again) in the same book (Job 26:7) says that the earth is hanging on nothing. An interesting tought at that time, many thousand years before Christ don't you think ? If you read a little in this book you will be surprised about how many things are described (about earth) by such simple men like Job who lived in the desert.
If you know a place in bible wich states that the Earth is flat (in the context of a plannet) let me know about it.
Do not let the technical things blind you from the truth. It's written (in the bible) that those who seek their own wisdom will ruin many other peoples who are following them. So let everyone believe what they want, but if you state something at least be documented about it.

Oh. I always thought he was paving the way for religious leaders to impose their whims on the dupes who follow them. Guess I must be wrong.

This is a very common thought. Nobody sais that you must follow ANYBODY, just follow God's word. Even Jesus said that you must pray to God and God only, not to somebody else. So you felt that right that there is something wrong....

(now back to my own mistakes, I got carried away...)
    Thanks,

CPU premature aging is not an issue because new processors are coming out very fast and the overclocked ones behave very well after years too... But if you want mission-critical-stability then don't overclock it.
