Remember, AOL is the same company that refuses to remove ads from AIM (AOL Instant Messenger). They're too money-hungry. AOL is just taking advantage of poor security measures by Microsoft. It's a far cry from hacking. It all just boils down to the least informed gets exploited the most. Sure, it's bad ethics. But the color green is something that companies use to overlook ethics.
Turn off DCOM and you won't have to worry about viruses like Blaster or Welchia. Run -> dcomcnfg -> Default Properites -> Uncheck,"Enable Distributed COM Services".
The RIAA is using its political and corporate muscle to attack individuals who pirate while the real issue is completely overlooked. That issue being the reason why people are resorting to piracy. Of course everyone wants everything for free, but who wants to pay $12.99 for something that costs $0.75 to make? These attacks clearly show that the RIAA is both hostile and desperate because it knows it's fighting a losing battle. And it's nothing more than a money-hungry institution that wants an excuse to extend its dominance and power in the music industry.
It sounds like an interesting idea. It might be a step in the right direction. Then again, it depends on how well things are managed.
As far as abusing the system goes, just look at the majority of people on welfare. They sit on their asses, smoke pot and have babies. They use the money the government gives them for their housing needs for drugs or they use it for fast food because they're too lazy to cook. There are two government housing projects in my area and they have cameras all over and one of them has the police station right next it. You'll see little kids walking down the street by themselves because their parents had them for money.
It shouldn't matter whether it's windows or not! The web is supposed to be OS-independent! It's supposed to be versatile and flexible and it shouldn't lean towards any particular OS. Use SSL, VPN or a secure tunnel for voting online.
"Do not underestimate the power of the human spirit," -- Shinnok, Mortal Kombat Annihilation.
A movie, that says the human spirit is persistent, has probably been pirated thousands of times because of that very human spirit.
"You are in imperfect being created by an imperfect being. Finding your weakness is only a matter of time," -- The Borg Queen, Star Trek First Contact.
It's only a matter of time before someone finds a way around the latest effort to stop piracy. Everything has a weakness.
A hacker used to be anyone that made a significant contribution to the computing community or someone who was smart with computers(Perhaps one day it will be again). Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Steve Gibson and Linus Torvalds are all considered hackers by this token. I take it you've never hacked your own machine? It appears that you haven't.
Part of the personal responsibility associated with democracy is thinking for oneself. You can't believe everything the media says. After all, the media's purpose isn't to educate; it's to boost ratings.
The 14th Ammendment made corporations natural individuals.

The door on the cockpit needs to be better. The fact that it could be knocked down like a slab of cardboard is ridiculous.
And the correct terminology here is "crack proof", not "'hack' proof'". Hacking and cracking are two completely different things.
